Soulforce in St. Louis, Alert #1: Lodging
Hello, Soulforce Delegates! This is the first of a number of Soulforce alerts, designed to tell you what you need to know before you arrive in St. Louis.
Have you made your hotel reservations yet? Hotel rooms in St. Louis are limited, so make your reservation now.
Soulforce has reserved a block of rooms at the Drury Plaza Hotel, Fourth & Market streets in downtown St. Louis. Drury Plaza is within walking distance of Centenary United Methodist Church ("Soulforce Central"), the site of the Soulforce Institute for Nonviolent Change and the training prior to the direct action.
Check the Soulforce website for more information, including a list of other convenient hotels. We encourage you to share rooms whenever possible. Many of us have had four to a room at past Soulforce events, and it's lots of fun. Contact Kara (kara@soulforce.org) for assistance in getting connected with a roommate.
If you're unable to afford a hotel room, even if you share expenses with roommates, the St. Louis planning team is arranging for community housing with friends of Soulforce in St. Louis. Within the next week, there will be a Community Housing Request form on the Soulforce website.
In closing ...
It's hard to believe, but we'll be together in St. Louis in only two months. If past Soulforce events are any indication, it's going to be an important time together, meeting new people, reuniting with old Soulforce friends and having the opportunity to train at the Soulforce Institute in the principles of nonviolence with Arun Gandhi, James Lawson and Rodney Powell.
And, most important, we'll have the opportunity to share the truth about homosexuality with Southern Baptist leaders and "messengers" to the annual meeting. This is our third journey to the Southern Baptists, and with each visit we've learned how to communicate our message with greater power and conviction. This year, our plan to "share our stories" on Monday, followed by vigils during our "24 hours of justice," will allow us new and exciting ways to communicate our primary message: God, who created us, loves us exactly as we are.

Until next time,
