Dear Senator/Representative (Last Name),
As one of your voting constituents, I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed "Federal Marriage Amendment" (FMA).
As a person of faith, I am committed to working for justice and equality for all people, regardless of race, religion, nationality, ability, sex, gender identity, familial status, or sexual orientation.
Therefore, I am strongly opposed to amending the U.S. Constitution for the express purpose of excluding and discriminating against consenting adults who want to be married in the eyes of the law and obtain the 1000+ rights and protections that go along with civil marriage.
Additionally, I also oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment because it seeks to codify discrimination against same-gender couples into the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, rather than expand and protect the rights of all Americans.
Those seeking to amend the Constitution are promoting discrimination against millions of America's couples, families, and children by denying them equal rights and protections under the law, and by taking away any existing rights they may have.
I urge you to be a voice for justice and equality, and speak out against this amendment and the discrimination and unjust practices it promotes.
Sincerely,
Your signature
