Presbyterian Church (USA)

The Presbyterian Church (USA) official church doctrine declares homosexual sex as sinful and contrary to God's plan. The Presbyterian Church (USA) also prohibits gays and lesbians from being ordained and has sought to discipline pastors who perform marriage ceremonies for same-gender couples. The denomination, however, calls for gays and lesbians to be treated with respect.

Certain congregations have become More Light Churches and are working towards full inclusion for GLBT people in the denomination.
