Cindi Speaks at University of Illinois on International Women’s Day

Last week, our executive director Cindi Love had the opportunity to speak at the Friday Forum at the YMCA at University of Illinois. She talks about it in her latest Huffington Post article.

It just so happened the day Cindi spoke to this dynamic crowd of young idealistic students was International Women’s Day. In her post, she tells about addressing the students at Illinois and encouraging them, in her words, to “act up a bit about the role of their respective churches in the oppression of women and sexual/gender minorities.”

She then draws the parallels between women’s rights around the world and freedom for LGBTQ people. The fact is, as Cindi writes, the “nasty and gnarly old tangle” of patriarchy effects all of us, and we have to be invested in the freedom of all bodies, minds, and spirits from its influence.

If you’re passionate about the intersections of justice between religion, LGBTQ liberation, and equality for women, please take one simple step to promote Soulforce’s work on these important issues. Click through to the Huffington Post article; “Like” it on your Facebook page; leave a comment in the comments section. This will promote Cindi’s column on the Huffington Post page so we can reach a wider audience with Soulforce’s message.

Thanks so much for all you do for the good of the world!
