Hi Everyone :) This is my first time on this site and I am excited to see what all this offers. My partner and I are in a nasty :eek: custody fight for our son from his father and step mom who are apart of the southern Baptist and we are fighting a political battle from the step moms’ side. So we are looking for any advice, help and comfort from anyone. I would like to get to know you all and we also hope to maybe meet some friends along with support.

Welcome to Soulforce, Melissa and Sheree! I hope you will find it as much of a "home" as I have. There are some wonderful, supportive and very knowledgeable people here.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through a custody battle -- it tends to hurt everyone in the process, most of all the child. I hope that you were able to find a good, GLBT friendly lawyer who has alot of knowledge about GLBT custody issues. Every state is different, and I've heard of good outcomes and bad ones. I will definitely keep you both in my prayers for the best result possible, and that your son will be happy and know he is loved by all the parents in his life. :pray: :love:

Melissa and Sheree: Welcome to Soulforce. You will get as much support as you could possibly need around here. I am in the middle of a separation from my partner, and we will be sharing custody of our daughter. However, no major hurdles or struggles are expected. I do agree that you two may need to get some sound legal advice there, by searching or asking around for a gay-friendly person, friendly to you as lesbians but also to you as parents.
