In a crowded press conference early Tuesday morning, Satan announced his disavowal of both gay marriages and civic unions. "I know there are a lot of people who might think I'm in favor of this," he said, "but you couldn't be more wrong. My perfect world involves the fevered debasement of flesh and the absolute corruption of the spirit, not two happy people living out in the suburbs building a life together.
"Frankly, just the thought of these 'families' hosting barbecues and going to baseball games makes me sick."

Yes, there are the pool parties, the barbecues, and all the wonderful family events --immediate and extended - that occur with both Crozier and our sibling families - and my 92 year old mother-in-law.( mother-in-law legally, mother-in-love for decades).
But there are other shared joys, from newborn to infant to toddler to pre-schooler, to adolescent who becomes a teenager and asks you for the keys to the family vehicle(s). That's right, you understand that bile has an odour, and when it kicks in, wonder how something that small can smell so foul. Then there is the joy of toilet training and all those many things that LC and I would not have traded as experience for all we have.
Lives of quiet desperation......so culturally not male gay.....bullocks.....we have always been moral, monogamous, conservative in our outlook where marital and parental responsibilities are concerned.
We would not trade our lives for anyone who has access to every circuit party for the rest of our lives. Yet, if you do, and since you need not my permission or approval, you have the constitutional right in both our nations, gay or straight, to choose the type of life you wish to live.

Gosh, I'm almost ashamed to admit it, is everyone sitting down? My partner is on a backpack trip with friends for a few days, and tonight I'll be BOWLING (there I said it!) with our league (her dad and cousin, mom comes to watch), AND (gasp!) we are also having a (shhhh) POTLUCK! YIKES! Us gays and lesbians - there's no end to the freaky stuff we do!
I guess this goes back to the sarcasm thread - can't help myself, just sometimes hafta be me....
If those who appear to hate us so, spent some time with us, they would see we aren't all that different from their own selves (thanks Dottie and Robi/Gay into Straight America for doing just that - do I have the names right??). It is so silly, and frustrating, to me that they think they know who we are when they won't even give us a chance...

And I always thought you had to be a small town Lutheran from the midwest to do a potluck. Well, if you do meet any small town Lutherans, you will have the perfect conversation starter, just like Dotti and Roby.

No BruceChris - you just have to be hungry and not afraid to eat food other people make!
Bowled crappy last nite and it was $$ night! Oh well... winter league starts in a month. Bowl in the Fil-Am league, my partner is Filipina, everyone in the league, excellent cooks but potlucks normally make my stomach a bit icky (sensitive anyway). It was good stuff!
Oh and my grandma who died several years ago, from Oklahoma, no one made potluck food better than her! She wasn't Lutheran, I think more Baptist than anything, but mostly just her own beliefs. Us potluckers are from all religions, walks of life, sexual orientation....
And now, today, I know you'll be cringing at the impropriety and sin of it all, but since I'm alone this weekend, I'm going to be engaging in some improper housecleaning! AHHH! Don't tell my parents.....
