Please read the following article on the "Focus on the Family” website:

Also, please notice the "take action" section on the bottom of that web page. They've conveniently included all the contact information needed for us to get our point across as well.

I used the link to send the "Governator" a message. :)

I think the article truly shows the fundamentalists' inherent evil. In the article, they admit that the AB 606 bill “requires local school districts to establish and publicize an anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policy that prohibits discrimination and harassment based on specified characteristics, including, but not limited to, actual or perceived gender identity and sexual orientation.” Why would anyone want to block a bill that protects kids (gay or otherwise) from physical and verbal abuse in school? Some of us had to put up with words like “fag” while we were growing up in school. This and other hostilities do not provide a positive learning environment for gay kids.
This is exactly the point I made to the governor in my email to him.

This is an interesting item. I think SB1437 has pretty much died - it was known that it would not even be considered by our lovely gov. So AB 606 was introduced, a very much watered down version that only provides for non-discrimination. (Couldn't FOF at least manage to get updated information???)
A lot of people aren't happy about the watered down version, but those involved feel at least it will help protect the school-going children for now.
Wow sounds like labeling but I'm not sure how else to define these people - conservative so-called Christians tried to get a bill passed that ultimately would have stripped our domestic partnership rights - did not go thru. Luckily and blessedly (is that a word?) we have too many gays and lesbians in the senate and assembly to move things like that.
