Hello,

My partner and I live in Anaheim Hills, CA with our 10yo son. It's really cool to find a site like this to read and share information.

I am in the process of converting to Sikhism. So far, I have found them to be the most accepting religion. It does mean that I have to give up my beliefs about Christ as they do not and will not believe in any human incarnations of God.

So far this has become a huge rift between my partner and me as he is a devout Catholic. Our son was also baptized Catholic, but I'd like to convert him to Sikhism. He loves going to the Gurdarwa with me, but then my partner tells my son that I'm being brain washed to turn him off to the religion.

I'd like to know if there are any other Sikhs who are members of Soulforce and if so, what are your experiences with the religion and your friends and family.

Korben

I am glad that you found us. That sounds like quite a struggle for you and your family. I hope that it can come to a resolution that all of you can feel good about. Religion can be an even more challenging issue when you are raising children. Good luck, and hope to see you around here often. Peace, Vanessa

Hi Korben! Welcome to the forums. Glad to see you here and looking forward to reading your posts. Not a Sikh, probably call myself Christian as opposed to anything else - or more aptly, spiritual NOT religious!

I think it's cool when parents let their children explore different faiths and beliefs and choose the one that's appropriate for them. I believe in Jesus and for me, that works, but enjoy learning what others believe and what works for them.

Welcome! :D

Hello and welcome.

Afraid I have no insight on your situation. In fact I know nothing about Sihkism. I would say it's probably fairest that both of you openly share your religious views with your son, with your own reasons why you believe as you do, and then let him freely walk his own path.

I hope things resolve peacefully for all.

Welcome, Korben.

No advice, but I'll be thinking of you and your family as you sort this out.
