I am Nico Kleynhans, a 50+ South African, who has been involved in Human rights issues in my country for 30 odd years.
During the Apartheid years, I spent two terms in Security Detention in Polsmoor Prison and faced five arrests for ignoring Racial Laws. Like all security legislation, the State was not required to use court appearances to prove any charges against me.
My life is governed by an absolute belief that God does not discriminate against humans on racial, gender, sexual orientation or any of the other dividing lines we tend to throw up. I believe we should live as if we are God's ambassadors.
Having met Mel many years ago, and used his STRANGERS AT THE GATE many times to help gay Christians find their paths, the time has come for me to step up my involvement in South Africa again.
We face hearings and seminars as Parliament seeks to legalize same sex marriages. Our Constitutional Courts have given them a few more weeks to promulgate the laws.
Fundamentalist Churches are going ballistic trying to stop the process.
I believe our hard fought Human Rights Culture will win by year end.
