Hi my name’s Patrick. I live in Naples Florida. I’m trying to find a decent picture to put up, just so ya know, it’s forthcoming.
I discovered this site several months ago and was particularly impressed with the specific clarification that the ‘enemies’ in our struggle for equality are not our enemies but fellow brothers and sisters who are victims of untruth. Ergo the biblical adage to ‘love and pray for your enemies.’ It was redeeming to see it purposefully acknowledged.
I’m a political ‘enthusiast.’ Outside of surfing the news channels I’m always keeping a watchful eye on the religion channels, monitoring dogmatic output, scurrilous accusations of attack, and especially anti-gay bigotry in the name of Love, who IS God.
I mentally retch every time I hear things like, “We must have compassion for those in the gay lifestyle while speaking the truth in love.” Or as I hear it: “You’re too stupid to know you chose to be gay, or just a liar, I don’t care which, but respecting you by being honest about that would make me look like a bigot.” :disagree:
I know God is ONLY infinite Love/Heaven :good:, and by infinite I mean perpetually exponentially increasing. It’s been proven to me at least. So I recognize what is not ‘God.’ But still being human and under the influence of illusion I get angry, especially after what I went through. I realize the devastating impact these preachers have. Not just with GLBT people (<I’ve been trying to make it a habit to use that instead of just ‘gay’), but all the people they preach to who rely on their truth discerning ‘talents.’ I Think about the unnecessary predicament parents and loved ones are put in, who are motivated only by the desire to do what is right and as a result feeling compelled to choose between the word of a loved one and ‘God’s word,’ understanding neither position fully. That’s the type of confusion that’s alleged to make people gay in the first place!
I get so angry I end up coming full circle and I get absolutely afraid for them. When they understand the magnitude of the reality of the Love that God is they will never forgive themselves, they won’t know to. They don’t and as a result won’t have the conceptual capacity to understand what ONLY LOVE means. When I see this I know they are a part of me, literally like members of my immediate family, and I have nothing-but-compassion because I know how insidious the illusion of pride is, and the hell it often takes to undo. :'(
So that’s why I’m here. To try and help save those like me from the ‘saved’ who need to be saved from themselves.
I’m also a logician/philosopher/writer/perfectionist. I’ve got 2 books to write and I really need to find a consulting editor sympathetic to the cause, Light on the Ghost writing, heavy on the editing. If anyone can help, be it referral or suggestions as to finding and hiring ‘the one,’ I would be eternally grateful and promise to name my first adopted after you.
-Thanks, see you in the forum.
