Greetings.

I've been a student of the Urantia Book (http://truthofurantia.com) for 27 years. I came 'out-of-the-closet' twice, the first time 3 years before finding the Urantia Book, and again 7 years after finding it.

One month before finding the Urantia Book, I experienced a spiritual epiphany. I came into the inwardly-certain knowledge of my sonship with God as my true and loving Father, independent of all external "religious" organizational influences. My growing awareness of the true nature and character of God through genuine personal experience set me upon the course of searching for literary confirmation of the truth about his Person. In my readings of Scripture I found myself greatly dismayed at the inconsistencies in its portrayal of the divine character and nature. My search for literary confirmation of the truth of my profoundly personal spiritual experience led me to discover the Urantia Book, and upon reading it, to discover it to be all that it says it is.

Nevertheless, as powerful a subliminal influence upon the psychology as is the legacy of the erroneous teachings about God perpetuated by the religions of tradition, I decided I would still give God the opportunity to discretely change me into a heterosexual. In spite of my intellectual understanding, my spiritual awareness, and even of the reinforcement of the teachings of the Urantia Book about what God is really like, I still allowed time to pass to possibly 'arrive' at a genuine sexual attraction to women.

That outlook finally dissipated completely after 7 years, whereupon I finally and fully accepted the truth:

Gays and lesbians are as fully endowed as any "straight" person with the spiritual birthright to lay firm hold upon their certain status as full-fledged and fully-deserving sons and daughters of our infinitely-loving heavenly Father as his FREE GIFT, to be realized by faith as the soul's attitude and joyfully experienced through grace. Gays and lesbians are just as capable as any "straight" person to sincerely seek out our Father's will in every day life, and to honestly strive to do that divine will.

No longer shall the religions of tradition presume to render the sincere of heart into perceived spiritual isolation, to orphan them from the tender mercies and loving ministry of our heavenly Father and his Divine Ministers until such time as they should surrender the honest attraction to the same sex in the honorable pursuit of a partner in life.

Welcome, TrueAce. This is the first I've heard of a Urantia Book, but I do like what you wrote about birthright. A good reminder that we're not asking for churches to "give" us something that has not already been given by our creator.

Nice white hat on your myspace page. :cowboy:

Hi Jamie, Lydia,

I've experienced a kind of evolution over the last few days. This development had actually been congealing somewhere in my mindal attic for some time, and part of that process consisted in my creating that MySpace profile this year. I should make clear that my MySpace profile itself evolved over the year; feeling as I did that somehow I was headed toward a new development.

This development has taken the form of a convulsion into the creation of a new website. For more than 20 years I've yearned for some online device that would serve to finally manifest a visible presence of gay and lesbian Urantia Book readers.

I feel the time is ripe. WAY ripe.

I should add that I am aware that my new webpage is hardly as sophisticated either as I would like or as I've seen others to be. I feel this webpage is definitely in its infancy, and as such definitely has its limitations. What is notable is that it's all free of cost both to me and to others, relying as it does on freely available second and third party resources.

All this, because I have long felt a need to fellowship and share with other gay and lesbian Urantia Book readers to derive a sense of social re-energizing and rejuvenation. Moreover, such a visible presence can serve to bring a greater awareness of the existence of the Urantia Book within the "gay community," that its comforting teachings could finally be heard among our gay brothers and sisters, especially our gay and lesbian youth. The gay community, as a whole, has long endured an unjust and undeserved social and even spiritual ostracization. This is to proclaim full spiritual liberty to those who have been riviled and marginalized, who have assimilated the burdensome false messages about themselves and about God perpetrated upon them by the religions of tradition.

Still further, there is a special need among those who are seropositive for HIV. The personal discovery of the Urantia Book can become a tonic of enormous vitality, serving as it may as a catalyst for complete reassurance of one's spiritual status and divine destiny.

And so I am announcing what I believe is the first ever, actual online presence of gay and lesbian Urantia Book readers. I fully expect it to be slow in both participation and evolution, but at least it is finally born.
