I am a traditional native two-spirit woman. I am glad to be here. I feel that I may learn alot from this site. I am concerned about the far right winged Christian movement and the campain that is going on against homosexuality in the United States. For right now, I feel empowered and want to help out as much as I can. I have not read the book that seemed to start the Soulforce. I am interested in reading this book. :)

Welcome imsingingwater. Mel's book, Stranger at the Gate, eventually led to the launch of Soulforce as the organization to work to apply King and Gandhi's methods of nonviolence in the struggle for LGBT rights in America.

I haven't read the book yet either, imsingingwater.
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on it someday after you've read it.

"Two Spirit." I've read some on that. Way more eloquent than 'spiritual hybrid,' or the ever wordy: heterosexual girl with a guy's body - as I would describe myself.. :D
And "I’m singing water," I love it! Once in my life have I heard a singer who gave meaning to the phrase “had a voice of many waters.” Oceans of sound is the way I would put it. It was genuinely spiritual.I am concerned about the far right winged Christian movement and the campain that is going on against homosexuality in the United States.Mel White’s latest book is Religion Gone Bad (http://www.religiongonebad.com/), which deals with your sentiment above. I've read it, it's a very good overview.
Hope to see you around,
-Patrick

It is nice that you do feel welcome here. I like your native phrase *Two Spirit* (Two Spirited?) I would perhaps define it a little differently for myself. I am part Boy, mostly Girl, and it is much easier to just *pass* as a guy, than have worry to about hair, and makeup, and possibly even surgery:eek: - And as for worrying about having to *Come Out*, I have really no idea as to who I would come out to, or exactly what I would come out as. My friends all know who I am.
Glad to have you here.
Peace and Love, Bruce Chris
