This morning I noticed listed in news articles online a story that Neil Patrick Harris says that he is gay. He is a good actor with a positive image. The announcement should be helpful for the cause of tolerance.

Neil Patrick Harris (born June 15, 1973 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is an American actor. He is best known for his TV roles as the teenage doctor Doogie Howser, M.D. and the womanizing Barney in How I Met Your Mother.
Harris is an actor who, if this article is to believed, can act straight.
Good for him of coming out of the closet!

I find it interesting how lately with the last three people who have come out, it hasn't been a big deal (Justin Timberlake, the guy from Grey's anatomy and now Neil). It's actually kind of cool to see that it isn't a reason to sell papers/tabloids, but seems to get more of a reaction of 'ho-hum, another one.'

 My boyfriend wishes Justin Timberlake was gay. You mean the other N 'Sync member, Lance Bass.

:D
I had such a crush on Doogie Howser when I was a teen (Harris is just 3 years younger than I am)... I don't think it registered that he might be gay (I was in denial myself), but it's kind of interesting to revisit those times now.

I was a big fan of Doogie when the show was on, however, at that time I didn't quite understand the idea of what gay meant and didn't realize that guys could be attracted to other guys. Looking back now, I can see that I had a crush on him and I find it interesting that he and I are both gay. Did I pick up on something subconciously or is it coincidence? I guess if Ricky Schroder, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, and Kirk Cameron also admit to being gay then I guess my gaydar is better than I think!

Kirk Cameron has submerged himself in very homophobic, very aggressive proseltyzing movement called "Way of the Master."
It's very possible this is his way of supressing his sexuality... It's equally possible that he is straight and just got sucked into a fundamentalist movement.
That "Way of the Master" website is the scariest thing I've seen on the web! I forget how I came across it (a couple years ago) but I was completely dumbstruck.

It wasn't Justin timberlake, it was Lance Bass. But I wouldn't have been suprised if he were, he's close enough where it confused my gaydar, and that guy from Grey's anatomy, Is T.R. Knight. He came out because one of his co-stars, I forget which said an anti-gay slurr refurring to him. I liked doogie howser, But at that time I didn't like girls, I didnt know why.
But I think it great, If coming out makes you more popular, then pretty soon everybody will want to do it.

So let's see some more GIRLS (O.K., O.K., WOMEN) come out. It seems to me that Ellen and Rosie have been aroung quite a while, but I don't remember any others that I can think of.
