I feel the neo-cons and theo-cons and fundamentalists running this Republican, proto-theocratic country, are succeeding in their use of gays as a unifying force.

I'm pushing 60 and have just recently been removed from the will of my 85 year old father. My conservative brother has gone radical and sounds like Jerry Falwell. But I sense that people who were once endeavoring to be fair and "nice," are now emboldened to be mean and discriminatory now that they perceive they have are running things. Even people who have been uninterested in religion, are seen jumping on the fundamentalist band wagon. I think they are authoritarian, conventional types, who feel they are aligning with the power structure in order to be safe.

I think it will help if a few more Democrats get in, but I am really worried about this country. Being used by these people is going to really add to the suffering of gay people, and, in my case, already has. We need to hang in there and support each other. Could a day ever come where gays would be sent to concentration camps or executed? They already have the belief system to do it! Thanks for your comments.
