I feel dejected and need some soothing words. My district (Minnesota's 6th) elected Michelle Bachman, a woman likely more dangerous to us than Rick Santorum ever was.

She's very articulate, smart, and vehemently anti-gay. She thinks we're out to get schoolchildren and believes God called her to the congressional office.

The political platform that gained her deep favor with the national republican party is her anti-gay positioning. She authored bills attempting to get Minnesota to ban gay marriage and remove LGBT folks from our Human Rights act. (It failed; we're too liberal-- thank God.)

Not only does she seek to ban our marriages, but she seeks to roll back our rights. And she isn't bigoted-sounding, but she's all-the-more dangerous for it.

And now, because of my stupid district, Michelle Bachman is in congress. And I'm almost certain we're going to hear of brilliant anti-gay bills being introduced with her name on it. They'll be well written, and supportable. Minnesota Republicans know how to get liberals on their side.

I was certain we'd contain her in Minnesota..... ACK!!!!!

Soothing words, please. Soothing words . . .

Hey David: Try to spend some time over on our thread that covers "WE WON!!!!!" pretty extensively. Without dismissing the potential harm that she can cause in your state for gay persons, I sympathize with you and feel for you. Keltic wants to know what can be done strategically so that we can be as effective with avoiding the antigay measures as our own Zerbie and her Arizona group was. Maybe we can share ideas and help in some way for you and supporters to get powered up early on in her term and take wind out of her anti-gay sails. We tend to get pretty darned creative around here. Glad to see you around, Peace, Vanessa:love: :)
