In light of the fact that Arizona DEFEATED a "marriage" amendment - thanks to all of you who prayed with us.
There is such peace in my heart today. :dove:
While the other states passed their amendments, I believe all we needed was one win, to bring about the beginning of the end.
I kinda wish right now, that you all lived in Arizona and could experience the unbelievable joy and soul-cleansing relief that we feel here.

My joy for you makes my throat tight.
You certainly deserve peace sweetie!
It must take a miracle of love for all the voters to stand up and say:
"we must protect the rights of gay people equally!"
This is not tolerance! This is a pro-active affirmation!
That today humanity transformed into a kinder world
And the joy of this transition is ours to savor!

Victory really is sweet. Exhausting, but sweet.
The effort and planning- as well as the committed hard work that went into this spoonful of victory leaves the rest of America's GLBT citizens hungry for more. Arizona's repudiation of bigotry is a recipie for the rest of country.
We had all better learn to bake. It's a big cake.

It seems to me that there was a time, not too long ago, when you could not make any decisions at all when it came to being an activist. And it seemed at the time that I was offering you all kinds of encouragement (or was that abuse, I forget). Now I am seeing you as someone that we could ALL be proud of.
I remember, as I was walking the streets of Sioux Falls, doorknocking for the end of their insane abortion law, I met a young woman who was knocking the same doors, to speak out against their marriage amendment. It could easily have been you, except for the distance. Except that I was only doing it for three days, and you have been at this for (weeks) No, MONTHS!
Zerbie, we all love you, and you are an inspiration to us all.
Hey, yesterday I sent links to some of your better postings to friends feminist, LGBT, and ACLU. If you ever come to Minneapolis, you'll be famous. Everybody will know who you are! :agree: :sing: :applause:
Peace, Love, and Rock-and-Roll, Chris

BruceChris is right- you were not sure at all what you were doing a few months ago, and not even sure of the hows and whats of getting involved. You have grown and taken risks and gotten out there and done a hundred times more than what I have in the last few months activist wise. It inspires me, this decision and your part in it, to work even harder to be more politically and actively involved in getting the word out and fighting for what are important issues to us and to all humans. Thanks, Zerb for just being who you are. I wish I could be with you right now to hug you up!!! You are awesome...... Love ya, Vanessa

Weeks? No - 17 continuous months. There was a time last spring when the campaign switched leadership and dismantled all the volunteer committees, of which I had been on several. I phoned daily asking the campaign what I could do and they said "Nothing, wait til the fall." Not wanting to wait, since I had the summer off, I searched high and wide for another venue through which to fight the amendment, but they all pointed me back to our campaign. So I just did my own thing until fall when the campaign called upon its volunteers again. Defeating Prop 107 was my life for the past year and a half.
You sent links to my posts to your friends?!?! OMG!!!

I get cchoked up when I think of what you all do!
You are of the beautiful people in the world!
You provide light leading to a kinder humanity.
And You let show courage with sensitivity from a lion's heart.
It has been my privilege to get to know you and learn from you.

Zerbie,
Although I'm a little far away from AZ (in So. Cal this week tho...) I can ALMOST feel your elation - definitely feel mine. I'm so so so happy, excited, pleased, that Arizona citizens had the sense to defeat this nonsensical (is that a word???) bill!!! I can't tell you how much so! I truly feel this is a real beginning, especially with the Democrats taking over both House and Senate. Things aren't perfect, but they certainly are looking up.
Thank you so much for all you have done and are doing. You are truly an inspiration to me (and all of us I'm sure!).
Tdogg:love: :D ;)
