View Full Version : Hola friends...
hello everyone! my name is esteban giron, and i am a recently-expelled church of god theological seminary student. (i know...congratulations...it wasn't until i started communicating with soulforce people that I heard anything but "oh, i'm sorry"...instead, I hear "congratulations")
i have a lot to put in my profile and promise to do so in the next few days. as it stands, i am waiting to hear from pacific school of religion as to whether or not i can transfer into their m.div. program, as well as having an interview for equality ride tomorrow afternoon. it's been a busy couple weeks, and i find myself on an emotional roller coaster like i've never felt before. i'm 28 years old, and all i can say with total certainty is that god and i are friends and i am OUT for good. out of my school, out of my church, and free to finally talk about it! so i look forward to virtually meeting all of you in the coming weeks. if you pray, please pray for direction for me...doors have closed and doors are opening, and i will need providential wisdom at least for a little while!
peace

"church of god theological seminary" sounds so holistic. I'm a philosopher so the name alone is enticing. Do tell. ;)

Welcome Este,
Good to have you aboard.
I will add my congratulations, as well as my sympathies for the pain your expulsion must have caused you. I presume you are talking about the seminary in Cleveland, TN.
Besides Pacific, there are other schools that are much more open to GLBT students and ministry.
I graduated from United Theological Seminary in New Brighton, MN (Twin Cities). While I am sure there are others, this one goes beyond GLBT friendly and is absolutely affirming. Many of the faculty are GLBT who were defrocked or fired from their previous churches/seminaries.
A little closer to home, assuming TN is home, is Methodist Theological School in Ohio. This one is still Wesleyan, if that is still a consideration, but somewhat more open. It might fall short of affirming, however.
Anyway, my prayers are with you as you discern the next step forward. May God speak clearly to you heart, and grant you the wisdom to see the path set for you alone.

Well, it must be nice to be Out, but I am sure that is wasn't very nice at all to be THROWN Out. I hope that you still have some friends, and people that you can call and talk to about things in your life.
I am also hoping that you have a church or church group to felowship with, until your future begins to sort itself out.
Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

Hi and welcome. :)
Best wishes during this time of change.
Thanks for the welcome! I appreciate the Seminary advice as well! I will of course keep you posted as things become clearer over the Holidays!

So glad that you are with us throughout your journey. What a great attitude that you have, about doors. I truly believe the same, and your friend God does not put anything upon you or anyone of us, that He thinks we can't handle. I hope the interview for ER went well- can't wait to hear that you will hopefully be a rider that we can cheer on in the spring!!!!! Peace out, Vanessa:love:
