Hey All!

My name is Stephanie and I'm a lesbian Mother of two kids... We live in a little town in NC but just outside of Raleigh and Durham (Lesbian Meccas or so I'm told ;)

I moved into this area within the last year from West Virginia... very close friends of mine (the Presbyterian minister and his wife) lost their church in Elkins, WV because they supported the LGBT community. My coming out several years ago (after they already knew and loved me) forced them to re-evaluate their spiritual stance, and when they made the decision to support me, they became full-out, vocal and visible supporters.

Here in the Triangle area, I am blessed to attend Pullen Memorial with my kids - they are supportive and affirming (http://www.pullen.org) - I leave feeling refreshed, not squashed.

Anyway, after all that rambling, I really just want to say that I'm glad this site/group/forum exists - progress will be made.

So glad you have strongly supportive friends - so important! It makes me angry that they were asked to leave their church over this issue. . . .

Welcome! I am lesbian mother of two as well. I live near Houston. We have a church that has a counseling ministry to LGBT people
run by a husband and wife. They had been in ministry for nearly 30 years when God called them to a counseling ministry for gay people in Phoenix. When their pastor heard about it, he summarily threw them out of the church and their house. They came to Houston and I think have been here for close to 5 years now if not more. It was sad, but you know, God doesn't look at things like we do and I am sure that he has plans for that team of pastors in NC that are ministering to LGBT people just like the team here. More and more Christians in the straight world are coming around. I will pray for that team of pastors that is ministering to you. Keep the faith and fight the good fight. ;)
