Nothing New Under the Sun

This is my intro....about 8 months ago I came out to my entire nuclear family....that included husband and three kids. My youngest daughter 13 basically dragged me out of the closet and slammed the door behind me. It has been both torturous and incredibly liberating. In less than a year, I am now divorcing and moving into my own apartment. I raised my children as Christians and I did teach them to be loving and tolerant.....but now that it is "Mommy" the whole world is upside down. Now my 19, 17 and 13 year old children have memorized the 6-7 clobber scriptures and use them to disregard me.

I knew I was gay before college. I wanted to have the american dream, a house, kids etc. I "chose" to try to be straight and built the strongest closet I could---very conservative churches, homeschooling the kids, etc. It didn't work. I feel more grace dependent and authentic in my faith than I have for a long time.

I am thankful for safe places like Soulforce.

Yes MT is short for Massage Therapist. Esthetician is fancy word for skin care specialist/facialist. I love my work....thankfully.

Thank-you.....I don't feel particularly couragous or inspirational right now. I truly covet your prayers for us all. My children are really hurting, angry and openly hostile. They believe in their hearts that I can't be both gay and Christian.....I don't believe I taught them that. I did however stress that they save sex for their lifelong monogamous God blessed relationship. I do look forward to having the support of a spiritual community during this time.
