Hello, folks! Give up a cheer for our capital city, Lansing- today the City Council passed a Civil Rights Initiative that prevents discrimination based on age, ability, sex, orientation, gender expression, race, religion, and pretty much anything else under the sun- unfortunately, some folks from Midland from the American Family Association want to try to fight it in court- which is silly, since they aren't even from Lansing.

So this is why I am in such a good mood right now- though I am not from Lansing, I am from Okemos- just south of Lansing- I am very happy that we finally have something on the books close to me.

Now, a bit more about who I am, other than rather excited. My screen name is something that I created for a fanfiction I started writing a while ago, I adore Harry Potter, CSI, CSI:Miami, South Park, and a whole lot of other things that occupy my time while searching for a job in Michigan's cruddy economy. My fiance and I are looking for a house, getting married next year, and very glad that my mum lets us live in her apartment in my gram's house. I have no strict word for my spirituality, as it is relatively unique. I like collecting odds and ends, candles, antiques, books, records, pillows, formal wear, and anything else I can pick up with the excuse of using it for the house, when I get it.

Well, I'll dodge out now- cheers!

Thank you very much!

I am very fond of Oscar Wilde- he's one of my personal heros- that poor man had to deal with so much hatred and did so with such grace.

I like your quote too- Rumi has some beautiful words!

What brought you here to us, I wonder? That initiative passing sounds like a great victory. Enjoy the sweetness of it. Hope to see you around often, Peace, Vanessa

i just started clicking around from the triangle e-news letter and ended up here....

we'll see what happens in lansing- it should be interesting. we'll see if the city council has the guts to stand up for it when people start complaining.

peace out.

Hope you meet some neat people here, read and post. Say, I once had an aunt who lived on Haggadorn Road, but that was a looong time ago. Edit: I've been away too long. Did I say post? Yer all over the place!

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

:D

hey! i've already started meeting a lot of new and awesome people- it's nice to finally be in a place where i can openly discuss hot-button issues and question my beliefs and those of others without getting a response back that is punctuated by f-bombs and very very insulting phrases- so many boards get so hostile and y'all are just so nice!

i love it!

i live less than a mile from the jolly/hagadorn intersection near Michigan State University and used to drive hagadorn every day to get to high school in Mason- it's a great ol' road, especially where it curves- my brother used to try to take the curves, rated at 35 miles/hour at 55 miles/hour in his car- the car would take them just fine because of how heavy it was- of course, he always slowed down when mum or i was in the car because we neither of us like taking corners that fast!

yeah, i got quite post-happy when i wasn't sleeping the other night- i have these long spells where i won't sleep more than a few hours in a night, so i end up online- it was fun! eventually i will get around to posting again, but with christmas just around the corner, things are a bit nutty here at home!

cheers!
