I sent the following message to all the MCC churches in Texas. I would greatly appreciate any feedback or answers to questions that you all might come up with!
This busy Friday afternoon, I am writing to ask for your help as we gather information to evaluate the possibility of planning a Young Adult Ministry Conference for 2007. [NOTE: This is a preliminary request for information. Nothing has been planned as of yet.]
If you are willing and able, please reply to this email with answers to the following questions:
1. Does your chruch have a young adult ministry?
2. If yes, how many young adults participate in it?
3. Who is the clergy person, staff member, or volunteer who oversees your adult ministry? Please provide their contact information.
4. Do you have young adults participating in the worship & ministries of your church?
5. Would you like to see a young adult ministry be developed in your church?
6. What do you believe is the greatest issue facing young adults in your community?
7. If you could put your young adults through a training/development/spiritual growth conference, what are the main areas you would like to see addressed?
8. Would you like to present a message/training/workshop at a conference for young adults? Are there people in your church you would recommend to be a speaker/presenter?
9. Would you, or someone from your church, like to be part of the conference planning team?
FUEL, the young adult ministry of MCC Austin, will be taking the lead on putting this together. www.fuelmccaustin.com
This is my first conference... and this is the beginning stage... so I definitely am grateful for any advice. I want the conference to be transformational and inspirational. I want young adults (LGBTQ & Straight) to leave with strong commitments to be God's love in the world, to stand for justice, to be affirmed and challenged, and to answer their callings.
