my 19yo daughter and 18yo son were here this evening to practice a song with me. We are singing together at church on Christmas Eve. I wrote down the words and left space to write the chords in above them. I have a good ear, so I determined the key of the song from the cd and noted the chord changes. My son brought his acoustic guitar, and before I could give him the info on the song, he was already playing along with the cd. we fixed a few rhythm problems, assigned some harmonies that were very close, and within an hour we had an incredible sound!
the feeling of making music with my kids was an absolute joy! I can't describe how it made me feel. I can't wait do sing this at church on Christmas Eve:

especially with our kids. What an amazing time for you. To me, singing is always the most emotional, intense way to express ones self, and to do it in unity with your family is amazing and powerful. My daughter loves to raise her voice in song in church, and it is inspiring to just listen at times. No self- consciousness or shame- just pure love.
