Most of ya'll know me. My name is Christy A.K.A. rainbowcat. I love dogs too:love: . I have one of each. My cat is a tabby mixed named Phoebe. My dog is a sheltie named Sheba. I love them dearly. They are like my kids since i can't have children. I  most any animal except for snakes, insects, and spiders:eek: . I often watch the Animal Planet. I hate it when animals are being mistreated or:injured: it make me::mad: God created animals on purpose and sad:'( when people don't take care of animals.
My pets mean a lot to me. I have a passion for not just human rights but animal rights to. After all our pets love us unconditionally like God but humans love us but some of them have a condition. Example, we love you but we don't accept you as a lesbian. i encourage you to fight for animal rights like donating to a humane society near your area:dollar: also right to your Congressman. Remeber if you show love to them than you will have a best friend forever.

God Bless,
Christy:rainbow:

At one time I had three dogs but unfortunately they all died from cancer which was the most painful thing I had to go through they are like family it's hard to loose a pet. I am hoping someday I'll be able to get an apartment but where I live right now doesn't allow pets. So I am hoping somewhere down the road I can move to somewhere that does allow pets.

we've got a Jack Russell terrier named Flapjack. He's loads of fun and a great cuddler, too.

We used to have two other dogs, Bully the Carolina dog mix (who was 15) and Leather the black Lab (who was 14). Both the old timers died this past summer, which was very sad.

No plans at present for any other pets, though we've talked about getting a goat to graze on all the weeds!

My ex got my former dog, Zadkiel the monster Pitbull, in the breakup a few years ago. i still visit both my ex and Zad on a weekly basis.

i love animals - dogs are by far my favorite!

We have had two dogs. the first was a St Bernard, Teddy. Got him when a puppy 3 months old, 38 pounds. Before a year was out he was 90 pounds and 160 pounds before two years. He lived to 9 1/2 which is exceptionally old and a bit unusual for a St Bernard - their life span is on average 8 years. The last couple months he had to have medication in order to stand but he had a good quality of life until his last day.He is burried in a steel and concrete vault at a nice pet cemetery. He was a very friendly dog and gentle. Very very gentle. it was a huge loss when he passed away. Three years later we got Buffi, a cocker spaniel. She lived to almost 14 but the last 3 years she had cancer. She had 3 major surgeries and recovered quickly and was fine until she got so she could not stand on her hind legs and lost bladder control. This may not have been due to the cancer she had had - we don't know. The vet showed me how to care fo her and with a lot of work and assistance she lived comfortably 3 more months. She too is burried in a very nice pet cemetery. We don't have a dog now but may get one a little later. My experience with dogs leaves me to believe that dogs do go to heaven, just as we all do.

Hi, I'm Denise, new around here. I have 5 dogs!! They are my world and my reminders of my lessons in life. "Jesse" is my oldest she is a Lab/ Chow/Doberman mix and is 14 1/2 years and acts the most like a puppy. Next is "Skydance" a Husky/Malamute mix who will be 10 in Feb. It is her blue eyes as my avitar, she is the most like a still wild wolf. Then there's "Jacob" a Sheltie who is the "diva" despite being a male. He is tempermental and tells everyone off, he's almost 9. Then "Sam" also a Sheltie and herds everything he can he's 5. Last is "Lakota" who's 3 and a New Foundland/Flat Coat Retriever mix and the worst behaved dog in history he's hyperactive but brilliant, always planning what to get into next! Two are mine, the other three were left behind by my spouse when she left, so now I guess they're mine. I do love them all.

I don't have any pets (lack of time, and an allergic partner), but I'm totally hooked on the Dog Whisperer (http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/channel/dogwhisperer/).

We're in no situation to care responsibly for pets, but we have about 140 plush animals. :p :D

Zerbie,
I too have plush stuffed animals but i think i prefer having a live pet. One thing, it has been proven to help those who are physically ill as well as mentally ill. Pets seem to lower one's blood pressure. also seeing eye dog and a dog who can detect when someone who has seizures. My pets are company to me. Before i got my dog, i just had my cat. i became seriously ill and my cat helped me from going completely insane. My pets also helps me with my depression. Also pets give you that unconditional love:love:
i love stuffed animals too. they are cheaper :dollar: than having a pet. You also don't have to clean after them:eek: i love all animals plus live pets are one of God's creatures while plush animals is manmade:good:

God Bless,
Christy:D :rainbow: :smurf:

Well I've got a bunny here who says what's the difference if he's plush, he's perfectly real! In fact, I've taken a poll and all 140 of them agree. :D

Seriously, I do notice a total relaxation when cuddling one of our plushies - hubby and I have remarked that it seems to work like "real" pets that way. Anyway - I'll stop hijacking the pet thread for now. :p :D

Pets... pets... hmmmm... I would love to own a dog. I just LOVE doggies. Practicly grown up with dogs, since my grandmother & grandfather have owned a few. Gone to award shows and such winning prices. Cats, I have nothing against them, but since I got clawed by one at an early age then built up an alergy... well, I tend to stay away now. Would love to be able to cuddle with them though.

I would love to have a dog, but sadly I still live in the same house as my father. And with everything going on in my life right now I wouldnt be able to tend to it... wich really stinks. Aw well, IŽll just hope that I will be able to get one later on.

IŽll end this post with a GO PETS! (Except annoying little birds... *Shivers* ...I wish ours would just... fly away or something and end our misery. )

How are those horses Zerbie? I have real animals but my plush critters think they are real too!

2 dogs, 2 cats and currently 2 horses although trying desperately to get down to only ONE! (Horse that is.)

Not a cat person and we likely won't get another once ours are gone to cat heaven. They are both around 13 years old and healthy as can be, so I'm sure they will bless us with their presence for a few more years. We have a border collie/aussie mix and a yorkie-poo, and they are typical brother and sister. The horse is an Arabian gelding, beautiful and awesome to ride. The other is the same but not quite as beautiful and no where as fun to ride.

If we had property, we would have chickens and a goat or two as well - I love chickens! (OK they stink but the babies are SOOOOOOO cute!)

My plush collection includes a Rock Penguin, the cutest thing!!

Hey Tdogg!!! I thought of you this Christmas because my parents presented me with. . . drum roll. . . another plush horse!!! He's a great big one - from the appearance of the box I thought they were giving me golf clubs. :p He's a great big sprawling soft brown horse. I named him Palmer. So now there are three horses in the menagerie, and they've spent the holiday weekend being introduced to the Twilight Zone (original series.)

Next time you're in Phoenix we should meet for tea and scones or something, then take a little tour of the outlying neighborhoods - there are horses, sheep, chickens. . . and the mountains in the distance.

Way to go with three horsies Zerbie!!!

Well, we do have companies in the Phoenix area, so if we get an audit scheduled, I will definitely let you know! Last year (2005) I so cleverly schedule one for Scottsdale July - you know, the hottest week of the century. Oh well....the timing was good if the weather wasn't. And we got a room at an awesome resort for next to nothing (of course, hardly anyone was there since the weather was HOT!). :o :D

What's all this about hijacking the thread, and making it about stuffed animals? And Zerbie, let me guess, you named the horse after Arnold Palmer, 'caus of the golf clubs?

And if ya go to Brian/Supperhippy's thread about sinning, on Faith and Non-violence, and scroll down to Keltic's post, and take the Dante's Inferno Test, at the bottom of the test scoring you will find a "Cute Animal Quiz", and an "Advice Bunny"

(I think this winter weather is starting to make me lose it....................)

But I still have a Teddy bear or two.........

When I lost custody of my children to my scheming grandmother (long story I'll go into some day...she took them the same way she took me from my own parents), I fell into a very deep depression. I overdosed on Ambien twice, and the second time had me in ICU for just over a week.
My husband knew I wanted to get a dog, so when I got out of the hopsital, he took me straight to the animal shelter. I immediately fell in love with a blond labrador with a funny walk. The shelter required a 24 hour waiting period before adopting. We were there the next day before the place was open. There was just something about her.....
Because of her, I HAD to get out of bed each morning. Because of her, I was able to cry out my grief (I had not been able to cry before). When I got really depressed in the afternoon, she's grab her toys and do her best to at least make me smile at her antics. Even now, she knows when I am down, or stressed, and knows when to play, and when to simply lay her head in my lap and gaze up at me with her big brown eyes.
She came with a little baggage of her own. Puppies will usually bond with their owners, and when their owners are not able to take care of them for whatever reason, they develop abandonment issues. Sandy had separation anxiety each time I left the house, and our vet suggested getting another dog, if we could afford it. Besides, cheaper than doggie Prozac. So we ended up with a spaniel-Heinx 57 mix named Rusty. Now they are inseparable, as well as quite close to us. Sandy remains my special dog, and Rusty has attached himself to Richard.
When I had a seizure last August, I remember that Rusty kept following me, and Sandy was frantic to get up on the bed. I don't know if either one of them could actually sense that I was about to have the seizure, but I was sitting on my bed next to Sandy, with Rusty right beside me on the floor when it hit. Rich and I thank G-d that they were so persistent in wanting me to sit down and pay attention to them...I might have been on the stairs.
We also have three cats, who more or less adopted us, not we them. But I think that's just how it goes with cats. All I know is, I am never alone, I am surrounded by love, and I am alive. While my children are always in my heart, they are 3,000 miles away. My dogs and my cats are here, and they make life worth living.
