Well im am on the Internet movie database general discussion board and I have shown Bibles passages that seem to hint at important figures being gay. Along comes some yoohoo ( I have had problems with him before). It was the usual "The Bible says being gay is evil" and then when i responded to some one else that I didn't want to be an athiest because i wanted to become a rabbi, the yoohoo screams at me that because I am going to be a religous leader and I'm gay, I will be wiped off the Earth. He goes on to say how evil a sin aganist G-d it is and how I am a false prophet (I never claimed to be a prophet). He pulls out bible passage after bible passage aganist false prohets. I didn't even bother with him. It was kind of funny actually!

Yes, they would be funny if they weren't so successful at taking political power. Adolf Hitler would have been just funny had he not succeded in taking power.
We do need to keep our sense of humor, however.

Daniel
01-03-2007, 12:32 PM
Jeez....I'm a six'er.
Sixth Level of Hell - The City of Dis
You approach Satan's wretched city where you behold a wide plain surrounded by iron walls. Before you are fields full of distress and torment terrible. Burning tombs are littered about the landscape. Inside these flaming sepulchers suffer the heretics, failing to believe in God and the afterlife, who make themselves audible by doleful sighs. You will join the wicked that lie here, and will be offered no respite. The three infernal Furies stained with blood, with limbs of women and hair of serpents, dwell in this circle of Hell.
At least I'm not as bad as Steve! Maybe that's because I'm- according to the test- a heretic, but not 'violent' like Steve.
Steve! I'll say prayers that you can come play on my level....unless of course, you want me to come down to your level.....?
Be nice....
Daniel
01-03-2007, 12:41 PM
Steve...I had no idea!
. Blasphemers and sodomites writhe in pain, their tongues more loosed to lamentation, and out of their eyes gushes forth their woe.
What's up with purgatory? No men loving men there?
You have betrayed reason at the behest of your appetite for pleasure, and so here you are doomed to remain.
I think a recount is in order!

The questions are obviously flawed. I've been an absolute SOB in my past - philanderer, drug addict, greedy economic exploiter, insensitive jackass - and the best I can do is purgatory. This test sucks.
Well, starting tomorrow, we'll see who's going to purgatory. I'm setting my sights on level eight, damnit.
I wanna be "whipped by horned demons" and "ducked in boiling pitch by demons known as the Malebranche." Of course, being "wedged into stone holes" and having my "feet licked by flames" sounds a little kinkier than I'm normally into, but hey you only go to hell once. Of course that "wallowing in human excrement" is a bit over the top. And I don't like serpents and ... Hmmm.
Maybe, I'll check out level seven. I'll be right back.
andrewlittle
01-03-2007, 10:06 PM
I took the Seven Deadly Sins test on the same website and I'm vindicated. Get this - I am a moderately gluttonous, moderately lustful (I should be lustful than that), sloth.
Now, wouldn't that make my momma proud?
I should be more lustful, though. Maybe I need something for my libido.

I'll have you know that my inherent privilege comes from not only being heterosexual, but being white, middle class, male, protestant, average height & weight, educated, ...
Sickening, isn't it? Not only do I have inherent power because I look like dominant culture, but that same dominant culture has ordained me to go to purgatory instead of to other, more meaningful and fulfilling, levels of hell with the people I really love and admire.
Damn, I hate myself now. Ooh - will that drop me a peg or two? And, technically, I don't qaulify as a "breeder" anymore, so I just have sex for shits and giggles.
God, now I'm grasping at straws. I'm milk toast and that's all there is to it.

I scored the 7th level on this (I agree with Zerbie) morbid test. I went back and looked at the questions, and I think it's because I've had sex with a women and I've attempted suicide. That's all I can figure.
Man, I apparently suck!
Ah, well, such is life!
Hey Keltic, can I catch a ride up with you??

just go to heaven instead. Leave the circles of hell to pagan, heretic, infidel scum like Andrew, Daniel, Steve, etc.
Wow, I don't know who you are... but how did you end up wanting to talk to us? I happen to be good friends (at least in my opinion) with Daniel and Steve, I don't know Andrew that well yet. I think you must be feeling like your thread has been hijacked, eh?
You're a level three. Evidently you're a bit of a glutton. It would seem that if you developed a more gluttonous attitude towards sex you could move up to level 2 where the somewhat lustful reside. However, judging by the test's bias towards heterosexual promiscuity as opposed to same-sex, you also run the risk of tumbling down to level 7.
Hmmm. Seems like hell is a bit of crap shoot, doesn't it?
Bugger it (pun intended)! Lust is more fun than gluttony anyday.

Anyway, they barely even broached the subject of pride, probably best though. I consider myself to be morally superior to those who think they're morally superior. I'm a moral supremacist supremacist. How many shades of hypocrisy is that? The irony alone should be enough to collapse the universe.

I forgot to say this after your post, but thank you very much for standing up for us. I know, after you found we were all joking, that you apologized to David but, apart from that little lapse in judgment, I am impressed that you wrote what you did. You did, after all, think that David was serious and took him to task for what you perceived was just pure nastiness.
Thanks for your courage and conviction. Be proud of yourself.
And remember to keep David in your prayers, Jen - after all, mental illness is a difficult thing to deal with for an old f-rt like him.

... you are a gem. At least from your writing, you remind of two of my best friends. Of course, you have to ask yourself what kind of people would be friends with me in the first place. If that doesn't piss you off, nothing will.
But anyway, thanks for the sparring. You probably won't understand this, but you have lifted my spirits on a couple of days that have been particularly dark. Thanks for playing.
I'd feel a little awkward about saying nice things to you, but I just remembered you're too damn old to remember this come tomorrow anyway.
So toddle off, take your Geritol, clip a few nose hairs, and dream about what you looked like before rigor mortis set in. Oh yeah, don't forget to pump up the old prosthesis before jumping in the sack. Jumping! Did I say jumping? Crawling is probably more appropriate.

Irony is indeed very heavy, but at this depth, everything feels the same, so it's as light as a feather.
It's not just the Gay questions, or the sex questions, or the pagan beilef questions.
I think it works on the balance, ok, on one hand, you have sex with men, but on the other you give to charities, you like fine food and kinda over weight, but you don't hate yourself or other people. So being gay isn't an automatic strike against you, but the number of +'s and -'s you add to the score, if that is indeed the way this thing scores.
Besides this is test where the best you can do is Purgatory, so don't take it to heart. Is it not important how you live you life now than the person you where, I mean I wasn't the ball of sunshine that you see now, not so long ago. The question of commiting an act against God, How does one strike the source of one's own life. That term was made to get people afraid of God, Now matter how old we get or wise we think we get, we are but children. God, being the supreme parent (and I do not say mother or father, because god is really neither, in the gender sense, and that is not saying that I understand this mess better than anyone else) You can never dissapoint(insert gender neutral pronoun here)
Some of these question were really ambiguous, have you ever is a hard thing to get around. If you were to answer the questions as you live now and not the past, you would probally get better scores.
Just a therory,

Do I really have to talk about it? :o
I could blame it on that damn Richard Dawkins book (The God Delusion), but that wouldn't be true actually.
The simplist way I can put it is that this is the result of years of influence by Buddhist thought and meditative practice. Though, in fact, I don't think I ever believed in God per se. My earliest spiritual experiences had more to do with Presence than anything else. And that, of course, is a very difficult thing to put into words. Like music, it's abstract and somewhat numinous.
Though I like what Gertude Stein once said after trying to find her old home in LA: "There is no there there."
That's kinda how I feel.

I just tried this thing, and firs tpart there is no level I believe in, ther ein heaven and ther is hell(and the resting place before the end) antleast thts what the holy book says and I believe that. Im not a perfect person by no means (who is) but I do try and do whats right to my best abiltiy(even though I mess up sometimes). Im 24 and stil la virgin so I got Purgatory something another lol. Well my last thoughts where how silly can this quiz is, its God who Judges us and see's into our hearts. Even though I scored good on this silly test thingy I think God, that he is the one thats judging me and not this person thats come up with this totally in accurate, silly survey. Well enough said lol.
Zerbie
01-08-2007, 02:04 PM
Don't take the quiz seriously. I don't know if possibly the writers of it do, or if they mean it as a game, but I would treat it as a silly time-waster. That's what it really is, anyway.;)
Fwiw - I "played" the quiz 3 or 4 times, answering a few questions differently each time to try to plummet lower or float up to purgatory, but those changes didn't affect the outcome - Level 1 every single time. One of the questions I changed answers to was the gay sex question, so I would have to conclude whoever wrote the test doesn't think that detail influences the outcome. Not worth time speculating on it.

Me and Zerbie got the same level, Level 1, Virtuous non-believers, the funny part is that I answered that I believed in God, and answer yes to the sex(even the pornogrphy and the masterbation questions, *gasp*) and gay questions, except seducing someone. I took the test twice and got the same results.
I can not think of what you could have answered to get level seven.
So how does heretic, I mean there are alot heretic in good company, If memory serves, Joan of Arc was burned a witch, until she was cleared of heresy and cannonised as a saint. Leonardo Da vincci, in the eyes of the then church, as a necromancer for his dissection of bodies for his anitomical sketchs. Galileio and Capericus, obviously, for contradicting the chuch that the earth was not the center of the universe.
So, all in all you are a heritic in good company Daniel. I mean if you are going against the church does not neccasarily mean you are going against God, Although you may not belive in Him/Her. But to each their own.

Fifth Level of Hell
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The river Styx runs through this level of Hell, and in it are punished the wrathful and the gloomy. The former are forever lashing out at each other in anger, furious and naked, tearing each other piecemeal with their teeth. The latter are gurgling in the black mud, slothful and sullen, withdrawn from the world. Their lamentations bubble to the surface as they try to repeat a doleful hymn, though with unbroken words they cannot say it. Because you lived a cruel, vindictive and hateful life, you meet your fate in the Styx.
Oh boy!

» Thom says: ☛ This test has a major problem. Too many questions are in the grey for me, not the black or the white. We could answer some questions with “Sometimes true, sometimes not so true.”
Well, past[life] experiences have taught me not to be too concerned about Karma in this life. I mean, if Shali [about 5000bce] can betray her family and marry a Phoenician sailor and live happily ever after (in three lives running) [long story]; why can’t I steal myself away from the Church and fair better?

» Thom says: ☛ I am not sure where the confusion arises? Is it that I am not clear? Or are you expecting things because I am “Satanic Pagan Universalist,” and I am not fitting into that box?
My Ordination comes from the Universal Life Church, which grants the title, “Reverend.” Said ordination is recognized at the DarkSide Coven (Pagan) and at the First Church of Satan (Satanic). The FCoS also recognizes the title, “Reverend” in those whom they have granted elder status (as I have).
The Title expects a certain level of responsibility, and I use it more to keep myself in check, and to identify my scope of practice.

» Thom says: ☛ The Universal Life Church (http://ulc.org/) is a great place to be ordained. They will ordain any One, for free, for life, with no question of Culture of Faith. We will agree that you have the privilege of believing what you will, even if many of us disagree with you.
Getting the Universal Life Church’s ordination is easy. Keeping it real is not so easy. You, and you alone have the privilege of determining that you want one. They believe that if you want one, that you have been called, and who are they to stand in the way. Yet, the ordination carries much responsibility.
Your opinion will become weighted with preference. A higher standard will judge your actions, especially in regards to your ethics. There might even be times when the ordination can get in the way of a real relationship.
The question you ought to answer is this, “What am I doing that an ordained minister must do and want to do?” More important, “What do I want to do as an ordained minister that I cannot legally do without the certificate of ordination?” In most states your ordination can make your signature powerful when placed on a legal wedding licence; it could allow you easy access to hospitals wards; you could even perform certain types of counseling and interventions, and if you make a counseling session into a rite of confession, then a herd of wild Jennies could not make you pass on that confession to anyone.
The question is, again, what are you doing that is like what a minister would be doing? What do you want to do that the certificate alone will let you do?
One final note: Because of the weight the ordination places on your opinion, you must be extra careful about what you say to people. No, you don’t have the luxury of hiding your ordination today to get away with a moment of violence in thought, word, or deed. They may learn of your ordination tomorrow, and people have wonderful memories when it comes to other people’s misdeeds.
Before you get too far along, do a self check. Ask yourself with each action, “If my parishioners (or child) were to do this act, how would I counsel their behavior? Would I approve or disapprove?”
The nobler type of person first practices what he preaches and afterwards preaches according to his practice. (Confucius, The Analects, 2.13)
Is there any one word which could be adopted as a lifelong rule of conduct?
Is not Sympathy the word?
Do not do to others what you would not like yourself.
Confucius, The Analects, 15.23
In all things you conduct yourself in,
Be firm of spirit,
resolute in character,
simple in manner,
and slow of speech,
and you will not be far from virtue.

» Thom says: ☛ My question here is purely professional. My Culture of Faith discourages me from telling you what you ought to do. I would like the answers to this question, but only so I can understand you better. It is usual in a profession’s code of ethics that professional support of our peers is always in play. Though we may represent entirely different classes of religions — as ministers, we can still support each other to help others (including each other) live better. Get your ordination, I neither can nor will stand in your way. I ask this because souls are at risk if you take this burden lightly. The Devil herself tested the Buddha and the Christ. I can only hope you are ready for even a fraction of that test.
One of the main responsibilities of a minister is to help people cross the final river — Styx, Jordan, Ganges — whatever the name you wish to call the moment when someone dies and will never return. Add to that, even if that person were a friend or family member, you are likely to be asked to be a source of comfort to every other mourner.
So, I am not going to ask you if you are ready to die: that question is easy enough to answer when death seems so far away. I am going to ask you to first visit a hospice; find a warm body; read to them, or massage their feet if they wish, or just let them borrow your ears for a couple of hours. Then, answer this question, are you ready to help someone else die?

Adolf Hitler was no laughing matter and neither is the religious right considering that people like Paul Cameron talk about extermination of gays much like Hitler did of the Jews. The Nazis also had their pseudo science back up the claims that Jews were evil, disease ridden, antisocial, second class. NOT a laughing matter when you consider what happened to the Jewish people...

What needs to be learned from history though is how that came to be.. Hitler and the Nazi propaganda machine basically set about on a campaign to destroy Jewish people by dehumanizing them, demonizing them and scapegoating them. The genocide of the jewish people of course is no laughing matter and I hope people are sensitive enough to realize that is something we don't want have repeated or happen to any people, minority, religious or otherwise.

I often have heard of the "gay agenda" by the religious right.. How we want to have "special rights",undermine traditional marriages, hurt or recruit their children. The religious right bares much resemblance to Hitler and the Nazis in how they view gay people..(And if any people have a hurtful and negative agenda , it is them)
The only thing about the "gay agenda" is, they don't realize gay people want to be treated like everyone else, to feel safe( not be violated as people or have violence or hatred directed against them) and accepted. We are actually no different from other people in this.. how many people want hatred , discrimination and violence directed at them, how many people would want to be deprived of equal rights or liberties?
Let's suppose the shoe was on the other foot and gays were considered the norm and the majority... and heterosexuals were the minority and the "outcasts", and we had a campaign against them , much like the religious right does. What would happen then? Who'd be saying their rights and liberties were being assaulted then? And exactly how would "they" feel about this? Exactly the same way glbt people do about being discriminated against.Exactly the same way as jewish people , blacks and other minorities have felt about being discriminated against for being "different".

Remember the song,"Walk a mile in my shoes." By Joe South.. before you accuse, criticize and abuse, walk a mile in my shoes... What I can't understand is why more people don't practice seeing this.. if you were in my shoes, how would you feel, or how would you want to be treated as a human being?" I think if people could understand more about the struggles, pain and alienation that other people feel who are being discriminated against, they might come to their senses and realize that to hurt others is also to hurt ourselves, that other people want the same things they want... Would a heterosexual want violence directed at him for example as a result of hatred.. Again let's put them in the minority and let's again say that homosexuals are the majority and have launched an all out hate campaign against heterosexuals A heterosexual family can't have the same benefits or rights as glbt people. And then we see in the headlines, that a heterosexual youth coming out becomes the victim of a hate crime. And how would they feel having to deal with those circumstances? To me, why people don't "get it" is beyond me.

good points. As for the people who talk abou they gay agenda. I think that they would have a hard time puttin g themselves in the shoes oof gays because they may have never met one. then in that case they would have to base it off ideas about them that they already had which would be negative. So then they would feel disgusted and feel like they need to "help" gays. But thats just me!

God is not the name of God the Father and there is no Biblical support to leave the "o" out of the word "God."
Orthodox Jews did not stop pronouncing "YHWH," the name of the Elohim (the plural of "Eloh" with "Eloh" being more than an "el" which could be any god), until after the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD when it was destroyed by the Romans.
The Orthodox Jews stopped pronouncing "YHWH" aloud for fear of being arrested and executed. So, they substituted "Ha Shem" (the Name) or "Adon" (Lord) or "Adonai" (my Lord) for that 4-letter Hebrew word.
You cannot sin against a "G-d" 'cause there ain't no "G-d" in the Bible.
