I'm not suggesting you don't leave, but why is it time? There is, perhaps, a clue in that.

Lay down on the couch, Steve, and tell me what's on your mind. No nothing personal or intimate, or even self-revealing, just stick to the superficial stuff.

What is it? Money? Recognition? Constantly pandering to moronic imbeciles? Oh, sorry, I was projecting.

I'm losing my nice big music room because they've decided to open a 4th grade (which should have happened back in August) I now will go to the instrumental music room, crowd 32 chairs into it because I have a class that is that large, it will affect how I teach. There will be no movement, because space and safety won't permit it. No carpeting in the new room either; I spend a lot of time on the floor with the primary grades.

Because they are splitting the 3 4th grades into 4, they've worked it out that my schedule won't change, and my teaching load doesn't increase. they just have made it more difficult to do a good job.

oh, and parents knew about it before staff........

done deal. no mediation.

Oh Steve......

Mid-Year? They are making this kind of change?

Oh......this sucks.....big.....time. Ya gotta have room to move around- especially with the younger ones. Otherwise, one goes nuts. Kids too. Doesn't your principal 'get' this? He/she thinks music is a sit/down read a book affair? Sounds like you are being asked to teach in a closet. ugh!!!!

Done deal, huh?

That would stick in my craw too.

Oh....buddy....I really feel for you.

Maybe time to start lookin' as awful as that it. That's no fun either.

I've been thinking that it's time for a change. recent events in both jobs just indicate to me that it is time for that change!

step out? which direction?

... it was the latter after all. Morons can make life so darn difficult.

What things about your job have you been the most passionate about? What things would you die to keep doing?

Is there a dream you've been supressing because its just too whimsical or impractical?

If there were no restrictions, how would you stetch your wings and fly?

At least, for a short while, ask yourself these kinds of questions before giving in to practicality and asking yourself how much you like eating or having a roof over your head. At this point, you're exploring anyway.

Might as well imagine soaring, eh?

Hey Keltic,

Fearless leader of GLBTs??? We've been looking for one....Only, it doesn't pay much, but could be extremely meaningful and fulfilling.

Just a thought.....

What would you like to be doing for work?
