Hello All!!!
~
It has been a while since I’ve been inspired to send one of these out.
~
I’m involved with a prison ministry and I write inmates in prison. I share and write about the LORD with them and they do the same. One of the inmates that I write to whose name is Shawn asked me some questions about showbiz and I responded. This is a portion of my correspondence with Shawn. I’m sending this out because I believe that it will encourage somebody out there.

Shawn wrote to me…

“...as an actor what is your timetable? When do you decide to try something else? If things don’t go as you planned, do you have a back up plan? Some actors set a timetable and if they haven’t achieved what they’re looking for they move on. Am I reading you wrong? I don’t think you will give up until you get exactly what you’re looking for.”

I responded to Shawn…

I don’t have a timetable for success as an actor/performer. Performers need to be cautious about setting a timetable. It can take many years for a performer to get a BIG break. It’s good to be focused and have goals. However, I believe that it’s a mistake for a performer to say that he/she is going to quit showbiz if they’re not a “star” by a certain date. It’s a mistake to have that mindset in showbiz. Showbiz is not for weak quitters. However, there does come a point when we have to be real with ourselves and practical and decide when showbiz is not working out for us. If I don’t get a big break this year, I may have to look in the mirror and make life-changing decisions about my life and career. I have a college degree and I worked in the corporate world for four years before I started pursuing performing professionally. I may leave New York and start again somewhere else if things don’t work out for me in New York. Perhaps I should try Los Angeles? Maybe Chicago? A performer will know within their heart when it’s time to move on. Me, I’m just getting started! It has not even been three years since I’ve been pursuing showbiz. In that time, I’ve had a lot of blessings, successes and accomplishments.

The Bible says in, HEBREWS 11: 1, NLT, “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.” There is a song that says, “I’m looking for a miracle, I expect the impossible, I feel the intangible, I see the invisible.”
