We'd love for you, if you're in the area, to come join us.

THE BIG VOICE: GOD OR MERMAN? and THE ACTORS TEMPLE celebrate Valentine's Day, Wednesday, February 14th
with a same sex commitment ceremony

Our collective 'Big Voice' will be heard in an unprecedented same sex celebration and sacred expression of Freedom, Love, and Commitment

An interfaith commitment ceremony hosted by the Actors Temple, The Actors Temple Theatre, and the hit off-Broadway musical, THE BIG VOICE: God or Merman? will take place on February 14th in honor of V-day and in honor of love.

Dozens of same sex couples will proudly celebrate their commitment to each other in a public demonstration of their devotion, loyalty and love after the 8pm performance of The Big Voice onstage at the theater. February 11th thru 17th is Freedom to Marry Week in the United States.

Join Rabbi Jill Hausman and THE BIG VOICE stars Jim Brochu and Steve Schalchlin, who have lived together as a couple for 22 years, as they bear witness to a miracle on 47th Street. Rabbi Hausman and Jim Brochu, who is also ordained, will conduct the inter-denominational ceremony

Rabbi Hausman commented, "I welcome all couples to The Actors Temple, Congregation Ezrath Israel, who together wish to present themselves for an interfaith ceremony of commitment. We invite those who want their union to be blessed in dignity and love, in acceptance and respect, and as a recognition of their intention to live together in the community as a married couple."

Written by and starring Brochu and Schalchlin, (The Last Session), THE BIG VOICE hilariously proves that showbiz is as much a calling as the priesthood. This high energy, razzle-dazzle show chronicles the lives of a Baptist from Arkansas and a Catholic from Brooklyn who find eternal salvation in the temple of musical theatre.

The New York Times raves "THE BIG VOICE is a hilarious and utterly rewarding evening of musical theatre" and Variety cheers "funny, touching and warmly endearing." The New York Daily News applauds "A funny, tender and thoroughly entertaining two-man show. 'The Big Voice' captivates with its big heart. Anyone who loves musical theatre should see this show."

THE BIG VOICE traces Jim and Steve's meeting aboard a ship in the Atlantic Ocean, Steve's struggle with AIDS, the production of their hit off-broadway musical The Last Session, their separation and their reconciliation. It's a comedy about a "gay marriage" between two men created by the couple themselves.

All tickets for the special performance of THE BIG VOICE on February 14th are $35. Whether you are there to exchange vows or just witness, it will be a night to remember. The evening includes the show, the ceremony, a commitment certificate and cake.

THE BIG VOICE: God or Merman? currently plays Tuesday @ 8pm, Wednesday @ 3pm & 8pm, Thursday @ 8pm, Saturday @ 3pm & 8pm, and Sunday @ 3pm & 7pm at The Actors Temple Theater (339 W. 47th Street) . Thank you for posting this. Performers have it right.

If we were local, I would totally want to go - as it is, there are some locals who read this forum, and I bet they appreciate the heads-up.
