Hello everyone. My name is Ryan and I'm 18 years old. I've been very aware of Soulforce, at least a year and a half but never figured of joining the online forum. I went recently to a Soulforce meeting in Philly, and I love the causes this group endorses and pushes forward. Nonviolent resistance in the tradition of such political and religious figures of the past, that's truly the best way of pushing forward our movement. I've known of my homosexuality for many years, probably when I could first conceptualize sexuality in the first place. I went to a private Christan school when I was in elementary school, and know about the intensity of religious homophobia and the effects of such indoctrination. So, I've been very vocal the past few years about my sexuality and my place in the church. It took me a while actually to realize the church I was raised in didn't accept or even tolerate the idea of my gay life. So, I left and attend other churches currently. I hope I can truly find a place permenantly in a community that is accepting but an appropriate fit for me. In any case, I'm happy to be here. :)

Im always so glad to hear of people who are able to embrace their sexuality at a young age like you have been able to do. I feel like I wasted a lot of my young adult years in fear and in the closet. It sounds like you are a man who is grounded and heading in a good direction.
