We remember Coretta today who, only a few years ago said, "I appeal to everyone who believes in Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream to make room at the table of brother- and sisterhood for lesbian and gay people..." Truly her passing marks the end of an era.

Be in prayer for the King family. They are divided over whether to turn the operation of the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change over to the US Dept. of Parks & Recreation. Ambassador Andrew Young supports the turn-over, as does the board of the Center, along with Dexter, and MLKIII. (I am not sure how Yolanda feels.)

The resolution of this matter could very much affect LGBT people. King's daughter Berneice is a leader in a mega-church here in Atlanta. The preacher there has led a march opposing gay human rights, and frequently speaks of himself as being the heir to the King dream. He is a prosperity preacher who drives a Bentley and received a hefty sum from George W. Bush's Faith-based initiative campaign just before the last presidential election. I suspect he will try to insinuate himself into the movement through his connection to Berneice.

Pray that the dream is not hi-jacked and turned into a nightmare for God's gay children!

Hi all: I just wanted to thank Soulforce for the beautiful opening picture and acknowledgment of Coretta Scott King. She was a beautiful human being, who continued to stand up peacefully to injustice for all of those years she was without Martin. I am grateful for her words of support by a person whose main motivation was simply equality for all. I love the quote that was stated on the website yesterday, "We are all tied together in a single garment of destiny...I can never be what I ought to be until you are allowed to be what you ought to be". Amen to that. God bless Coretta and Martin in heaven, and how happy she must be that they are together once more.....Vanessa
