My husband, who I am currently separating from while maintaining a friendship, myself and our two daughters are currently looking for a more gay-friendly church in the Orange, California area. His current church just doesn't "get it"! What a surprise, I know. So, we would like to raise our girls in a much more openminded, non-judgmental place of worship. We want them to learn that God loves everybody and therefore so should they.

My husband has just been out for a year and although we've decided to end our marriage, it's all for the better good. We have remarkable daughters and are so very proud of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much,

Shawne, Randall, Morgan and Piper:pray:

Welcome Shawne,

thanks for coming here to soulforce. I can hear the love you have for your daughters and your husband. you are a remarkable family.

plenty of us have been through this. Not all of our stories have the positive spin yours seems to have, in spite of your decision to divorce.

bless you on your way.
wish I could help you out with your search for a church. last time I did that, it was a disaster....

If you are inclined towards Presbyterian Churches, at all, the link below is to More Light Presbyterian (open and affirming in Presbyterian Church USA) churches in the state of California. You might check the list to see if one is close.

OK, I'll try one more time. This church is on record as having gone through the process of becoming Open and Affirming ( the Disciples of Christ program that welcomes and affirms lgbt people in their congregations)

First Christian Church of Orange (http://www.fcco-doc.org/)
1130 E. Walnut Avenue
Orange, CA 92867
714.538.9681

I am biased. I am a Disciple. I love this denomination. I should caution you though, because of the "congregationalist" concept within the denomination, each congregation can be very different from each other. So we run the gamut of very nearly fundamentalist (or evangelical if you prefer) to very progressive, liberal.

Check them out.
