The following message is an email and a idea i have been working on since 2001 before Ed Rendell was elected as Pennsylvania govenor.

I hope you all like my idea.

PS: I will fill out a profile later i am too tired from meetings with congressman Joe Sestak and http://www.moveon.org

DEAR ZACH.
I WORKED THE ELECTIONS IN SPRINGFIELD ON ELECTION DAY. MANY PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T LIKE JOE SESTAK SAID IT WAS BECAUSE HE WAS A BABY KILLER.

I THINK JOE COULD OFFER A BILL WHERE IT WAS WRITTEN TO HELP SUPPORT ADOPTIONS OVER ABORTIONS. I AM NOT SAYING TO OUTLAW ABORTIONS BUT I AM SAYING TO HAVE A CHOICE FOR THOSE SEEKING ABORTIONS THE ABILITY TO FIND A MEMBER OF THE GLBT THE ABILITY TO ADOPT THE POTENTIALLY ABORTED CHILD. THIS WOULD SURELY HELP TO CHANGE THE VIEWS OF THE REPUBLICANS WHO MAY SAY JOE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE UNBORN/POTENTIALLY ABORTED FETUES.

I AM NOT SURE HOW TO WRITE SUCH A BILL BUT THE BELOW FACTS DO POINT TO BASICS THAT NEED TO BE POINTED OUT BY THE BILL AND JOE AND YOUR OFFICE COULD WRITE A PROPOSAL..

I HAVE RECEIVED MANY POSITIVE RESPONCES FROM THE RELIGOUS RIGHT ABOUT THIS TOPIC. I KNOW THIS COULD REDUCE THE ANGER THAT MANY HAVE ABOUT ABORTION AND POINT TO AN ALTERNATIVE. IT COULD ALSO OFFER A CONNECTION OF LOVE AND RESPECT FOR LIFE BY THE GLBT WHO ARE NOT THE ONES HAVING THESE ABORTIONS.

The following sign was what i made on my RV when i spoke to Ed Rendell at the meeting with the gays and lesbians in 2001.

abortions = the plain facts = ADOPTION

Who doesn't get them ==>
surely gay men don't
surely transgendered people don't / can't .. their bodies are altered surgically
surely most lesbians want children to raise as they don't have male partners

Who does that leave getting abortions ==>
surely that means only or mostly straight women get them after having some sort of personal event that leads them to it.

ABORTIONS - NOBODY- LIKES - THEM
WHO - DOESN'T - GET - THEM - gay men don't
-- transsexuals - can't
-- lesbians don't
except in case
of rape
-- feminist - womyn +
men were
educated about
their
sexuality and
use protection or
ask a mate
to get pregnant

ABORTIONS WON'T BE NEEDED WHEN -- daughters +
sons are
educated
about their
sexuality +
not shamed
for it
--- when males
don't rape but
find other
outlets
--- when women
may die due
to pregnancy
/ complication
---- when scared
females
are given
proud choices
UNTIL THEN --support adoptions --
by gale males
transsexuals
lesbians + all

WE COULD POTENTIALLY BUILD BRIDGES TO THE CHRISTIAN RIGHT BY ALLOWING GAYS AND LESBIANS ETC TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO ADOPT CHILDREN THAT MAY BE ABORTED. IF WE CAN CONNECT WITH THE RELIGOUS RIGHT AND GET THEM TO SUPPORT GAYS AND LESBIANS AND STRAIGHTS THE ABILITY TO ADOPT THESE CHILDREN BEFORE THEY ARE ABORTED WE COULD SURELY BUILD BRIDGES TO THEM AND DOWPLAY THIS ABORTION ISSUE. THIS WILL ALSO HELP TO BUILD BRIDGES WITH GAYS AND LESBIANS AND THE RELIGOUS RIGHT.

YES IT WILL TAKE SOME FUNDING OF WOMEN SEEKING ABOTION BY THOSE SEEKING TO ADOPT BUT IT COULD BE A WAY TO PLEASE BOTH ENDS AND SHOW THAT GAYS AND LESBIANS ARE NOT ALL ABOUT ABORTION SINCE MANY SEEK TO ADOPT CHILDREN.

I AM NOT SAYING THAT IF A WOMAN STILL WANTS AN ABORTION THAT SHE SHOULD BE FORCED TO HAVE THE CHILD AND LET GAYS AND LESBIANS ADOPT IT BUT I AM SAYING THAT THERE SHOULD BE AN AVENUE FOR THIS ACTION.

WE NEED TO BUILD BRIDGES NOT LINES IN THE SAND.

WE WOULD NEVER SEE THE CHRISTIAN RIGHT TURN DOWN A MEMBER OF THE GLBT TO BE ABLE TO ADOPT OVER A WOMAN WHO WOULD CHOSE TO ABORT.

Respectively Yours
Danielle Clarke

Dear everyone here at soulforce i need help from the GLBT to help me present this idea on a larger scale. It could be done in states where its already legal for GLBT members to adopt and then taken and offered to other states. I would hope you would see the truth of this reality and realize that it can be a win win situation for both prochoice and proGLBT

Danielle,

This is an idea that I had to think about a little bit. I had waited to respond because I wasn't sure what I thought. I'm still not terribly sure.

I am firmly pro-life and believe that we need to make some real progress reducing the number of abortions while not criminalizing the process.
Also I firmly believe that LGBT couples and individuals should be allowed to adopt.

I am just unsure of the practically of this idea. Right now a young, white, healthy child can generally be found an adoptive home. However, minority children, special needs children and older children have a hard time.

It seems to me that a straightforward push for adoptive rights for LGBT individuals might be better than clouding the issue with the addition of the abortion debate. I'm not discounting your idea, I just am unsure about it. I will think some more.

"Abortions should be safe, legal, and rare" -- Hillary Rodham Clinton

So let's take an amount of money equal to Bush's tax cuts for billionaires, plus what we have spent on 5 years in Iraq, and spend it ALL on sex education and birth control. I would think that that would be adequate.

The Radical Right has a belief that they are Desperately trying to inflict on the rest of us. Sex can be a beautiful sharing experience, a whole lot of fun, if you do it right, and it's Not Dirty!

Well i thank you for speaking your heart. My heart also tells me that we could build bridges to the religous right by holding them accountable to helping to save potentially aborted children by supporting adoptions for GLBT people.
Right now in most states straight people can adopt these children. there are signs everywhere offering for mothers to give their babies to straight parents. well it doesn't say straight parents but if the law doesn't allow GLBT people to adopt then those signs imply it.

I would like to see at least right now states that do allow adoption by GLBT people to put up signs saying ""we have many GLBT people willing to adopt your child so think twice before you abort!!! ""

Then we can be seen in the light of being that which we are people who are not the main people having abortions.

Again let me reiterate that i am not saying to outlaw abortions.

bye Danielle

It is such a relief to hear of other gay individuals that claim to be pro-life as Pablo admits to being pro life. I may be a little more fundamentalist in my pro life views. I just believe that women who are considering abortion need our care and our love. I admit, I have not done enough in this area. I just wish that more gay christians would stand up for pro life issues. I do believe that that life that is inside the womb needs to have his or her own right to live. At the same time, I could not be so cold as to tell a 12 year old girl who has been raped or molested that she must carry that child. Or would I ever dare to tell a woman that she choose the life of her unborn baby if her life is at stake. Those are decisions are to be made by the woman carrying the unborn child. I guess I do believe we should make any other abortion illegal. I know this is not popular in the liberal gay movement, but I stand by that conviction. I have restled with this for years. I have known women in my life, including my sister, that have had abortions and see such a negative outcome - regret- depression- guilt- emptiness. I am for the life of those in the womb and outside of the womb. I do believe in womens rights, but we can not change the fact that God has placed the birth place in the female gender. We have to accept that and put that unborn child first. I make no apologies for my stance.
