Hey there everyone,

I'm Nic, and I love God's Word, and I love Christ. one of my goals is to each day endeavor to better understand His love for me, and better communicate that love to others.
I'd be interested in getting into a non-biased, "let's be honest with the text", Bible study looking into specifically what God's Word has to say or not say about the issue, if i anyone is interested?

Hi Nic,

Welcome to the forums. please feel free to jump in on any discussions here. As far as your offer, we've done that several times, so don't be disappointed if our members don't take you up on that very quickly.

Welcome Nic. Glad to have you here.

I'm not nitpicking what you said - quite the opposite, I would really enjoy the kind of discussion you mentioned.

It's just that I think it's impossible to be "non-biased", especially with something as closely and lovingly held as faith and scripture.

It would be good enough, from my point of view, to own our biases when they come into play. Those may or will come into focus as the dialogue progresses, and I have no doubt that some of us here will bring yours to your attention. What I would really hope is that you would feel free to do the same for each of us. It hurts to be shown our biases but, I for one, am thankful for each and every time it has happened to/for me.

If we can all do that in love and respect, then we will all profit from the exchange.

May God bless you, and I look forward to conversing with you.

I'm always game for this topic. It hones my exegetical and hermeneutical skills. But the conversation, it seems to me, needs to begin with a conversation about the purpose of scripture and how we understand "word of God" Just my opinion of course. Perhaps we could start a new thread and each of us introduce ourselves by being clear how we understand the nature and purpose of the Bible? It should be labeled with a warning for the members who are sick to death of this topic.

And if we put Andy in a thread with Nic... Would that be Nicpitting? rather than Nitpicking?

I'll start a thread using Nic's "Let's be honest with the text" line - I think that's appropriate - and I'll start with a warning for those who've had their fill of Biblical discussion. I have a hard time imagining that, personally, but then I haven't been around here that long.

Let's shake hands, and come out loving and respecting each other - okay?
