Why is it worse...?

Why does it hurt more when someone says something bad about someone you care about, then it does when they say something bad about you...?

Then the worst part, is that for several years, you think that the person saying those things was your friend. But honestly someone who was a friend would not say such mean things about the people you care about... especially when they are aware that the people being talked about are important to you.... :shield: :'(

Ohhhhh yes! If someone criticizes ME unfairly I can get a little sad, but if they are mean to my wife or my kids it TOTALLY enrages me. I want to tear their hearts out with a hot spoon! (in the most non-violent way possible of course).

What it means, dear heart, is that you are empathetic. You feel the pain that others feel. It also means that you treasure the lives of others and experience their pain more acutely than you do your own.

It means you are a good person.

There is, however, a reason he declined to give his age. Math has yet to reach the level at which numbers that large make any sense.

Lastly, Jenn, you are pushing the envelope on propriety with your question. Grandpa Dave has, alas, reached the age at which he can no longer remember just how old he actually is. He even, in his elderly state and ensuing dementia, actually believes he is younger than some of the other members of the forum. He really is to be pitied.

and as for you... at 50 you definately wouldn't be old enough to be grandpa to be... but "Grandpa Dave" will still work, makes us all feel more like family... you're actually a lot younger then my dad and only a couple years older then my mom... :lol:

You 2 can grow as old and crotchety as you want; as for me, I intend to remain youthful forever. Why, just today I was leading several of my classes in the Cha-Cha Slide, and when we "took it to the floor" I did just that: a nice back bend for this 43yo.

jennifer- i've been there- somebody says stupid things about me, i get pissy, sure, and my girls all scheme up terrible and ridiculous things to do to that person, such as waddawassi-ing their nose (harry potter spell....). if somebody talks trash about one of my sisters, ooo, that's when it hits the fan- there was this one 'friend' of mine once who started objectifying one of my girls to a complete sex object- i told him off, he tried to tell me i was wrong to be up in arms, and i told him exactly why i was going to kick his arse if he came near my girls- he tried to justify his actions, and so i told him to shove off...we haven't spoken in over a year and, frankly speaking, since his derrogatory-towards-females behaviour was not limited to that incident, i feel all the better for it.

unfortunately, he has a video recording i want...so i may have to contact him again.
maybe i'll leave that to my husband- they can still get along.

i am venomously defensive of my girls- it's a protective thing and they are equally such back to me- it means that we're loyal to one another and we see it as a good thing- it means you are willing to come to their aide, even if it inconveniences you- people like you are the ones who leave their business meeting and risk the wrath of the boss to save a girlfriend who has a flat tire in the pouring rain. you may have to deal with an angry boss, but your girl will be forever grateful, you'll feel golden for it, and you can just sit there and smile to yourself while boss gets his panties all in a bunch.
