Thought I'd just introduce myself. I've known of this website and organization for some years, and it has been a wonderful resource. However, I think I'd like to donate a bit more of my time and resources to this cause.:D
Glad you finally decided to drop in and schmooze with us. Your comments and your experience will be most welcome. Dive right in, the water's fine.

Oh how'd I miss your intro when I was logged on last night??? Huh.
Well, welcome Geoff! It took me a few minutes to figure out what's what, because I thought your name was going to be Willy, like your screenname. Guess I'm just confused this morning. :p
San Francisco? I only got to visit there one day - loved it! Nice park, nice bridge, nice clouds. :D How long ya been there?

Thank you for the welcome Susie.
Yes, my christian name is Geoffrey Willis. Willis is Welsh for William. Some of my friends call me "wild willy". I am not that wild though, I'm actually quite tame. One might even say I'm downright domesticated. Yet I am somehow burdened by this exaggerated reputation for being a "Don Juan".
I've lived in San Francisco most of my life. I grew up here. I have lived abroad however. I lived in Miami for seven years. I met the love of my life there, and he is with me here in SF. I am thankful for having lived in Miami and there are a few things I miss from South Florida, but I am much more at home in the Bay Area. If you ever plan on visiting again, let me know. I work in a hotel so I can get you a good deal. Or at least offer my services as a tour guide here or beforehand. I love my city and I love to share it with others. It truly is a unique place.

Ah - thanks for 'splainin'!
So - where abroad did you live? That sounds like quite an experience - I think Americans lose perspective easily because our country is so darned BIG, whereas in other parts of the world you drive a few hours and wind up in another country where people speak a different language.
Thanks for the hotel/touring offer. If we're ever headed that way again I will shoot you a hello!

I've seen this guy on the forums named Geoff, and he seems to have some very deep and thoughtful things to say. I think I really like him, anyway.
I'll have to see if I can't bring him down to my level, though.
Welcome, Geoff, I have enjoyed reading your posts.

Hi Geoff
Never gave you a formal welcome! So, welcome to SF forums, you've already found it's a great place. I love SF, one of my favorite cities. My girl and I spend time there when we can. We are actually coming up later this month to celebrate my BD. Can't wait!
So, what hotel do you work at (you can PM me if that's better). We already have reservations, didn't want to spend too much money on an overnight trip that we will be spending mostly away from the hotel so staying this time at Hotel Bijou - close to Market so we can use the train to get around. Some shopping, seafood dinner, a little dancing in the Castro, followed by a leisurely day driving around SF and then back home. There are so many great places to stay in the city, and we've stayed at the not so greats too!
Anyway, welcome and glad you are here Geoff!

I missed your into too- silly me.
Welcome Geoff! (I have a nephew with the same first name btw) Like Andrew, I have enjoyed your posts and your 'voice'.
Hubby and I haven't been to SF together yet, but look forward to visiting there- and then driving down the coast to San Diego where his mother lives. We travel there every year at some point. If it wasn't for the energy of NYC (and our work), we'd seriously think about moving to the west coast. The light is amazing.
Glad you are here!

I'll try to keep my high fallutin' jargon to a minimum folks. It is refreshing to find there is a place where one does not get shot down immediately for expressing one's beliefs. I am really impressed by your handling of the drive-by "trolling" on these boards. I've noticed the s*** disturbers don't hang around!

Jargon away! I love words and enjoyed looking up the meaning of your signature line. Doing so took me a few interesting places. Make me wish I had taken Latin in school!
Like you, I lived over-seas (as a kid). Spain actually. During Franco's rule. That was interesting.
