Good day to you all :)
My name is Jere.
I am in this forum because Equality Ride is coming to my place of employment and ministry - George Fox University. However, I also have friends who are gay and lesbian.
I am a straight, married mom who is a follower of Jesus Christ.
Reading the postings in this forum has been a wonderful experience. There is so much love and acceptance expressed in the words.
So..just wanted to say hi and ask for your prayers as we prepare to welcome the Equality Riders on April 5th. Please pray for the riders safety as they travel.
Personally, I am very excited to have this opportunity. Although my work load has increased quite a bit, it is well worth it. :)
Blessings to you all this day.
Jere

Thanks for posting Jere.
I think this may be about the calmest place to discuss matters like the E Ride, at least that i know of. People here are very kind.

Welcome! I try to keep up with the happenings of George Fox University and the Evangelical Friends. I am a conservative Friend in North Carolina (www.ncymc.org).
It seems there are several EFI Friends that are accepting of GLBT folks these days. Hey, maybe the Spirit is moving!
Are you familiar with Freedom Friends Church and Peggy Parsons?
God's peace,
Craig

Hi and welcome Jere!! Glad you found the place. Hope you'll stick around and share some more.
Thanks for the support, what the ER Riders are doing is vastly important and significant, and yes they can use all the support and prayers offered up on their behalf!
May God bless you much!

Say Jere. . . is that an elephant in your avatar photo???
I LOVE elephants!!!! :D
Hubby & I have an enormous stuffed-animal collection (145 total "household members" of the plush variety) and 3 of them are elephants.
I find them (both plush and real-life varieties) so beautiful.

Thank you so much for your embracing of the ER and the riders. I know that I am responding to your post relatively late, but I know tomorrow is their arrival there and I do hope it goes well. Thank you for your good wishes, and I hope that you will come around often. We are a lively, loving bunch around here!! Peace, Vanessa

Thanks for your message, welcome to Soulforce!
Another Quaker here (traditional style meetings, liberal outlook) ... though I am not currently attending a meeting due to logistical barriers ... but I identify as Quaker ...
Best wishes with the Equality Riders visit to George Fox! : )
Hugs,
Sherrie Z
