Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor ... and co-star of the new FX program "The Riches" ... in real life, he is an out and proud cross dresser, though also hetero ... or "fancies women" as he would say ... on The Riches, Eddie plays the father in a family of "travelers" (con-artists), the mother is played by Minnie Driver ... and one of their children is a cross dresser (dressing in girl's clothing) ... Eddie appeared on a recent episode of "Ellen" and told of coming out as a cross dresser when he was 23 ... you might have seen Eddie's comedy special "Dress to Kill" ...

So ... any other Eddie Izzard fans here?

Though i have yet to catch an episode of "The Riches" i'm definitely a fan of Eddie Izzard, the 'Exective Transvestite' as he refers to himself in at least one routine. His comedy routines are hilarious as well as insightful.  :agree:

It's great to hear from another Eddie fan! Yes, he's hilarious, and insightful and very bright in real life too : )

And yes, I love that "Executive Transvestite" routine! It was the inspiration for the name that I go by on another internet board ... where I describe myself as "French Vanilla" ...

If Eddie, as a proud cross dresser, can call himself an Executive Transvestite ... then I -- as someone from a demographic (white, non-trans, hetero female) that some might call "vanilla" (though culturally I am far from that) -- can call myself French Vanilla ...

When I rented the DVD of "Dress to Kill" ... there was an "extra" of a stage show he did in France ... Eddie is fluent in French so he was doing a short version of his stage show in France ... because I was familiar with the routine and know just a little French I could sort of make out what he was saying ... especially the part where he talks about being an Executive Transvestite ... (Je suis un travesty executif) but he adds something for French audiences ... explaining to them that in French the word for transvestite is "travesty" ... and that the word "travesty" has a different meaning in English ... then he does an imitation of the way he would introduce himself to a group of English speakers ... pretending to shake hands with each one, while saying several times: "Bonjour, je suis un catastrophe" ("I am a catastrophy") ... LOL! The French audience loved it, of course!

By the way, for anyone who may be wondering ... "The Riches" airs on Monday nights on FX, but they also air reruns on Saturday and Sunday nights ... I assume air times vary by region, but in many locations it would be Monday nights at 10 pm, and the reruns would be Saturdays at 10 pm and Sundays at 11 pm ... at least I think those are the airtimes for both coasts ... also, the program lasts over an hour (VCR alert), about 15 minutes over ... happy viewing!

Hi Sherri Z Cake or Death?? Oh, I will have the cake please...Well, we are OUT of cake. Seems to be a run on cake today. I wore fabulous makeup during the war! Yes first time I saw an Eddie Izzard tape, I couldn;t believe it.....he was So funny. I have made so many Izzard fan and have since had to duplicate my VHS tape countless times. One thing about his humoe it that is so intelligent. By necessity, he HAS to be so knowledgable of history to do what he does. I have seen him in several scripted shows and he is never as good or as funny as he is in his owm stand up live routines. What do you think? Dick in Fresno

Hi Rickie!

Hooray ... another Eddie Izzard fan ... thanks for your response! I'm in San Francisco now, but we've both lived in Fresno too!

Yes, Eddie is very intelligent ... and sooo good in his stand up routines. Have you seen him in person? I haven't, but it would be so much fun. He's very good in his scripted performances, but probably even better in his live stand up routines ... "but do you have a flag?" : )

And speaking of Cake or Death (LOL) ... here is a link to a website about Eddie, named appropriately "Cake or Death" ...
