he Christian Bible tells the story of how Judas, one of Jesus' closest friends, betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver. Was Judas desperate for money? Did he hope to become powerful by associating with the powerful people who hated Jesus? Was he simply afraid of being known as one of Jesus' followers and possibly punished or killed? We can only wonder.
I, for one, can imagine the heartbreak Jesus felt when his loved one betrayed him. And I think many Anglican gays and lesbians can to, especially those in Nigeria.
This is the most recent addition to my "Reclaiming Faith" column.
Peace,
Nate
