Unrequited affection is the bane of anyone's existence. Perhaps you and dsdrane should hook up and compare notes. And I mean that in the most innocent way.

...I'd be tickled pink to compare notes on The Silver Fox with TJ, Mr. Grumpypants.

 Cool. The Anderson Cooper 360 special was called "What is a Christian?" They discussed "Sex and Faith", "Faith and Sexuality", "Porn and Piety", and the last part, which I did not watch, had to do with abortions. It was very informative, I would assume, for anyone not familiar with the issues. The issue concerning sexuality presented both sides of the argument and was very, I believe, bipartisan in the sense it didn't show favor to either side of the argument.
I watched it with my mom and we talked some, in a very good way. She talked about how she hoped she had been a good mother, had done what she thought was right, and hoped she hadn't disappointed me. Concerning homosexuality, the way it came across was that whether or not you can change appears to be an issue from person to person (obviously), regardless of what one believes the Bible says. It was a good talk. Anyway, I was amused when they had a official representative (I forget their offices) from the Cathedral of Hope (or maybe it was New Hope) Church and from another conservative church in a discussion concerning homosexuality. Both churches had differing view points on homosexuality, but they both, in the end, agreed that lack of faith in Jesus Christ was the only thing that would keep someone in heaven, at which point I noted to my mom that, according to these people, I'm good (a.k.a. my salvation is secured) from a Christian viewpoint regardless of whether you or I are right about homosexuality.
I give the show a thumbs up.

Here is an excellent article delving into the fact that ex-gays don't change their same-sex attraction through ex-gay therapies...

A side issue to this discussion perhaps, but one that caught me eye nevertheless, and places the whole matter in a curious persepctive.

Included in the link is this nifty time-line.

Should Anderson discuss his sexuality openly? I wonder about that, and find it intersting that in his recent interview with Thomas Roberts regarding Roberts sexual abuse by a priest, the subject of Roberts sexuality did not come up while another man, the one who first brought a law suit against the priest, did dislose his sexuality. In point of fact, Roberts disclosed his sexuality on one occasion last year, but like Cooper, seems to be taking the tack that the matter isn't a matter to be discussed any further- or at all. I find that odd.

...I hope he's the one with the riding crop?
Nevertheless, I think we should respect Cooper's decision not to come out yet.

I met Anderson Cooper at a book signing here in Chicago. I did not know who he was until a friend dragged me to the book signing (I don't have my TV connected to the big bad world). He struck me as polite, sophisticated and sincere...and oh my...those blue eyes.
There was a guy in front of us who actually prostrated himself on the table in front of Anderson Cooper while his friends took pictures. Of course, Borders security had to intervene.

Here in the South we call it swooning. Sounds like the swooner at Borders ritualized the inner swoon Anderson gives us...and wish it were spooning!
