Have any of you had experiences with domestic partnership in your workplace?
My consulting(contract) position has just been converted to permanent full time, and was a real joy to experience what married couples do all the time.
To have choices like: whether to enroll my partner on the medical insurance, r stick with her COBRA, and which dental coverage to enroll her on.
It may not seem like much, and it may seem very mundane and trivial:
but there was a real feeling of being treated with dignity.
It is what we have been working for: now if only things were like that:
in the world outside this particular company: in the churches, in the Federal and State governments.
But it is good to get at least a small hint of hope.
I would like to hear what people think of this, and if they have had similar experiences,a nd also: if you have had negative experiences in inquiring about this or trying to get this established at your work place?
