I hope many here will go to the Democratic party's website and read about their stand on LGBT issues. Here in Texas which is predominately Republican, during last years elections, I voted straight Democrat. Even when the Republicans were unchallenged by a Democrat on the voting ballot , I left it unchecked.I'm not saying there aren't moderate Republicans, but if you live here in Texas you will see who is control.

I was pretty fussy about Bush being reelected, I don't agree with his foreign policies or the ones here at home..

I have a friend who is a lesbian and who also is a republican. This was several years back , but she was listening to a speech made by Bush and her arm raised up as in a salute of approval.(I personally wanted to slap her arm down,LOL) She was big on La Hayes books. I just found it astonishing that she would support Bush, especially with the Republican party promoting most of the anti-gay bias.

I don't think alot of of people here in the LGBT community did know alot about the religious right agenda at the time. There may be those who are still ignorant or uninformed. But being allied to the Republican agenda is kind of like cutting off your arm. Of course that is just my view point.

I used to be urked at the dems for sending me emails to contribute to their party(I've made contributions before) But I now look at it this way, they are coming to the American people to ask for their financial support instead of just relying on contributions of the wealthy or more powerful like corporate America.

This will give them much more leverage if the American people do contribute and help support their party. The American people by participating will also have much more leverage in the political process. So I would say it is important that we do support the democratic party and if we can afford to, make contributions to their party, even if it is in small ways.

If more and more people would contribute, even if it is in smaller amounts , it will still add up in big ways.
