Hello all! My name is Skylar. Not really sure what I'm supposed to share, but I'll give it a go. I grew up in Richland, Washington (Soulforce was in the Tri-cities - of which Richland is one) this last week and I was sooooo excited. I'm not actually in the States right now, as I am studying abroad this year, but I emailed my mother and she went and met people on the bus. It's the first time my mother has gotten involved with anything LGBTQA related and I'm way excited about that too.
Um let's see. I've just in the last year and a half started getting to a better place with my sexual orientation, but as I'm sure many of you understand, it has been a long hard road. I'm involved with my campus' ministries as well as our GSA. That has led to a lot of tough conversations on both sides of the fence, but has been so worth it. I'm really excited to get back to campus next year and continue making converstations happen and work on making a safe place for them. For the time being however, I'm living and going to school in Munich, Germany where the climate towards LGBTQA people seems to me to be better than at least Richland and the Tri-Cities was. And I still get to have a lot of thought provoking conversations with people here too. Hoping to continue breaking down stereotypes. Ok, well, I'm thrilled to be a part of this now. More soon, I guess.
Peace,
Skylar
