OK, my real name is Tim--but doom1701 is a username that goes WAY back for me (I'm the only doom1701 that shows up in Google). Got banned from another Christian board once because they just assumed that I was there to make trouble, solely based on my name.

I had never heard of Soulforce before last week, when my sister (a graduate of Bob Jones University) and my parents were talking about the East Coast bus tour's visit of her old college. While I don't agree with the rest of my family's unbiblical beliefs that they use to condemn homosexuality, I just assumed that this group they were talking of was another group only interested in making waves in Christian circles--with no interest in actual discussion or Biblical teachings.

But that same bus tour is visiting my alma mater, Cornerstone University, next week. The school sent out a letter to everyone, and provided a little more info on Soulforce--including a website. Talk about God moving in mysterious ways--to find that there is a group out there that shares my beliefs that the Bible is silent on "modern" homosexuality is wonderful no matter what, but to learn about that group through my old school's warning of the upcoming visit is just a wonderful irony. If similar "condemnations" by schools can lead other Christians to the truth about what the Bible says about homosexuality, then the bus tour may be the best thing to ever happen to Christianity.

Anyway, enough pontificating--just by way of introduction, I'm a 32 year old hetrosexual with a wife and a wonderful 6 1/2 month old daughter. Not much else to tell about me...did I mention my wonderful little daughter? :)

Hi Tim,

I saw your screenname and expected to read a gloomy-sounding introduction.

Thanks for posting a hello. Welcome! You sound like a very positive, cheerful person. Congrats on your lovely family.

Hey Doom,

Welcome to Soulforce. A lifetime ago I attended BBC in Clarks Summit, PA. I'm thrilled that Soulforce is visiting Cedarville and Cornerstone next week. I would be interested in hearing more about your experiences in Grand Rapids.

but seriously, DoomDad, welcome to the forum! congrats on the ankle-biter. Parenthood is a wonderful adventure, but not for the faint of heart. Just remember that God gives you kids so they can teach YOU ... not the other way round.

I would not assume that any Conservative Christian would have a problem with Doom. Most of them seem to be saying that they are looking forward to just that. The Apocalypse. Judgement day. When all of the good people get Raptured, while all of the abominations among us promptly get sent to some Terrrible Place. Well, welcome, in any case.

Peace and Love, Bruce Chris

Welcome Tim: Great to have you here. I'm always excited when our allies discover Soulforce. And Dave Amen to the children teaching the parents. One of my favorite anti-racist movies is "Remember the Titans." I took my two grandkids when they were maybe 11 & 9 and I remember pointing out to them the way the kids were teaching their parents, and told them that was their job too.
