Hi everyone. I'm plugging this for an internet friend.

Jake Sasseville is a college student who has a tv show in NYC called The Edge With Jake. I can't even remember now how I came across him, but about a year ago he had in interest in traveling to Africa. I e-mailed him and encouraged him to go. He got together with an amazing group of young people (called Forge, I think) who do relief work in Africa. He videotaped his trip, and you can see some clips on his website: www.edgewithjake.com.

He e-mailed me a while back about a project he has started called The Notebook Project. In many parts of Africa, children can't go to school unless they have a notebook. This is because they have no textbooks -- they have to write everything down from a blackboard, and their notebook essentially becomes their textbook. If they show up to school without a notebook, they are not allowed in. (I do similar work in Sierra Leone regarding school uniforms -- same situation, children are not allowed to school without a uniform.)

Notebooks are very cheap in Africa -- even a small donation will make a huge difference for these children. Jake is looking to provide $5,000 worth of notebooks to children in refugee camps in Uganda. You can go to his website to see video of what he's doing. His show very well may go national soon, so Jake Sasseville may be a household name before long.

Anyway, he hasn't reached his goal yet and he e-mailed me asking if I could spread the word, so that's what I'm doing. If you'd like to donate toward this project, private message me and I'll give you the info. regarding who to make your check out to and where to send it.

Jake is going places -- he is upbeat and positive and I expect great things will be happening for him. Though my own efforts for our Sierra Leone mission have stagnated, I figure I'll do what I can to help someone else. After all, helping our neighbor is what we are commissioned to do, whether in Uganda, Sierra Leone, New Orleans, or right next door.

Thanks, and many blessings,

Susan  :)
