Praise God...I have finally found a church in this podunk town that will accept me the just as I am...well sort of. I have been searching for a church here that can accept me and not condemn me for being gay. I have been to a few and the basic response up til now has been, "you cant be gay and Christian" or "you will burn if you dont turn from your sinful lifestyle", just to name a couple. I dont want to post one response that I recieved. I couldnt believe I was talking to a "man of God".

However, I have found one, while they do believe in the traditional "homosexuality is a sin", they dont condemn me for being gay. I spoke with the associate Pastor today. His view is that everyone is welcome, they dont turn anyone away. If God has reason for me to change then God will make that change in me. He also did make a comment that they dont want people "promoting" their "lifestyle". In "lifestyle" he was speaking in general terms like a drug user ministering that God gave us pot so it is alright to use it, that type of thing. That is not what I am about, speaking of the gay thing. If someone asks me I will tell them my beliefs. I did speak to him a little about my beliefs on the "clobber verses" that have been used. He has never heard of Dr White and was sort of interested. I told him about the booklet, "What the Bible Does and Doesnt Say about Homosexuality" and this website address. So I hope that he will at least check it out and see what others have to say about it. It may not change his views, however it will at least let him know where I am coming from!

But this is the first church, in this area, that has openly invited me to worship with them. I felt at ease and comfortable talking with Keith. It is a "young church" in this area. It is called Resurrection Life Church (http://www.getreslife.org/). They have been in the area since 2004, I believe. All I can say is that I am excited. :applause: :weee:

They have several worship services. I am going to attend one of the Saturday night "Res Rocks" services as well as the Sunday morning service, just to see the difference. The Sat night service is more of a "rock" worship. Sunday is a little more contemporary. We shall see. I just so miss the praise and worship that I once had with God. Throwing my hands in the air and just giving Him glory. My old church was that way. However, they dont allow us homosexuals to worship there. If I am living in sin then I cant be a true follower of God. You know the whole "sinful lifestyle" thing.

Anyway, we shall see how this goes. I am little worried about them still thinking it is a "sin" as it is literally translated in the Bible. But who knows, maybe I will be the one to open their eyes?! All I know is that I am excited and cant wait to bathe in Gods glory again with a group of believers.

Wish me luck people and pray for me. I will be keeping you updated on how it is.

Love in Christ,
Scott

Scott- May the angels with with you, paving the way towards understanding and lovingkindness. Yes! You may indeed be the catalyst that opens their eyes. And it was a deft move on your part to point the associate pastor to Dr. White's address. Ya know, you could always download it and make the guy a copy. :D Carpe Diem.

Be joyful! And be careful. You may find yourself something of a lightning rod for a few people. If you can let that charged energy pass through you, rather than stick to you, so much the better.

I'm glad you have found a place which will accept you. That's great.

I only have one word...WOW. :weee: :applause: That was amazing. I attended service tonight, the "Res Life Rocks Live" and it was outragious!!! The energy and Spirit that was there was so wonderful. I think I have found the church for me...YAY!!!

Pastor Chris spoke on "let your yes be yes and your no be no". He touched on a very interesting subject in that. It has to do with negativity. His words were..."negativity is not one of the Gifts of God. If someone is speaking negatively about something or someone then it isnt coming from God, it is coming from man." I found that quite profound. Think about it...I mean really think about it!!! All the negative things and lies that come from some of the "men of God", where are they coming from? They may stand behind the Bible in their speeches, but is it really coming from God or from them?

Just some food for thought. I put in for the pastor to contact me. I hope to be able to get with him sometime soon. Keep me in your prayers please.

In Christ,
Scott

I attended Sunday service. Same message but a little mellower on the preaise and worship, not much, but still wonderful. It is awesome. I know I have found my church now!!!

They have a cafe in the church that serves some basic food, nothing special, and drinks. It is a place for people to meet and talk and grow. I felt called to serve there since I am a Chef by trade. I just felt that God laid it on my heart. I went to Alice today and once she found out that I was a Chef, she was sooooo delighted. They are building a new church, hopefully we will be in it next year about this time. It is going to have a larger cafe and huge kitchen. Alice is really excited, as well as I, that I am going to be a part of this. She welcomed me to a meeting that she is having with a rep from Gordon Food Service to go over some new summer menu ideas.

I am so excited and blessed. I know God has something for me here in this church. I mean it cannot be a coincidence that I am a chef and they need someone like me there. I never heard of this church until another church that felt I wouldnt be accepted due to the elderly congregation told me about it. That was God working. He wants me there. I tell you what, out of the 5 or 6 churches I have attended all my life, I have NEVER felt this welcome, not ever!!! It is a blessing and a gift from God and I give Him the Glory. I pray that my life can be a ministry through my talents that He has given me!!!

Blessings to all in Christ,
Scott
