*Update on Transgender Character (soap opera)*
As an update to my previous posts about the transgender character storyline on the soap opera "All My Children" ... I am happy to report that AMC won an award at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York. The storyline, that included a romance between a transgender character and a lesbian character, comes to an end on April 26th. The storyline was extended past the original end date, and AMC wanted to them to continue, but both actors had previous commitments. The actors, Eden Riegel (Bianca) and Jeffrey Carlson (Zoe) appeared together at the GLAAD awards event.

One of the more compelling moments of the AMC storyline involved the transgender character (Zoe) attending a support group meeting. A group of "real life" transgender persons improvised the support group scenes.

NOTE: Along with the article, there is a link there to an interview with the woman who played the moderator of the support group. However, please note the incorrect spelling of the moderator's name. The article and interview describe her as "Jennifer Finley Boylan" ... her correct name is "Jennifer Finney Boylan" ... in real life she is the author of the national bestseller "She's Not There" ... a book that I highly recommend.
And here is an article about the AMC storyline, and the farewell party for the actors playing Zoe and Biana, from Soap Opera Digest:
