...and we are signing up! :applause:

A big thank you to businesses and universities who do the right thing.

Being considered self-employed, I previously purchased 80/20 health insurance at $223 per month. UK's coverage will be 100% at a cost of $253 per month. (It is interesting how those opposed to partner benefits argue in such a way as to give the impression the benefits are "free" or "special" rather than what it really is, which is simply the opportunity to purchase insurance the same as other couples.)

Here is the news story:

One marriage right down. Only 1039 more to go by June!

More evidence of the world becoming a kinder place!

When kindness wins, everybody wins. Even if some don't see it yet! :weee: :flower: :applause: :agree:

Of course, as yet, we have to look very hard to find it sometimes. We can only pray that what is wonderfully true for you, Jamie, becomes commonplace.

Congrats - but, stay healthy, anyway. Okay?

It's great news, but please do some math, ok? The IRS taxes that benefit. Chris is going to have to pay the tax on the benefit as if it was income, over and above his other taxes, which amounts to 50% of the benefit. Now, if the provider also chucks up some funds to cover that (some do) that is all well and good. But if not, it adds up. From the figure that you included (going to 100% coverage), however, you may come out ahead in terms of expenditure. But it's still going to cost you something. And that's a bummer.

Make sure that the employer does the withholdling correctly.

I love it when companies offer this benefit. It's a big deal. It's the right thing to do. And I applaud them. I just wish they would pressure the government to go the full distance. There is a bill that is being proffered in Congress to address this issue, but I fear that is is going nowhere at the moment.
