View Full Version : How Tall Are You?

Since Jennifer got some interesting responses from the "How Old Are You? thread" I thought I would see what we get from this one. I had thought of having a "How Much do You Weigh" thread, but thought better of it. (A person sleeps better a night if he doesn't know some things.)
Tu Amigo, Pablo
I guess I should start. I'm 6' 3".
And it's all lean muscle too. (I say that with all humility.)

I'm 6'4" ! (Tall for a dog, I know) Is it too late to add a poll to this thread? 253 pounds but heading to 220! (by thanksgiving)
Pablo Rafael

You posted before I got the poll put together.
I realized too late that my 2nd last category is one unit larger than the others. It should be 6' 3 to 6' 5". I wonder how to fix that?

I am 5'11" and a svelt 205lbs. Okay, not so svelt, but within reasonable limits for a fat old man. Alright damnit, not svelt at all. No need to rub it in.
What do you mean sensitive?

Alright now... boys, I think if we're going to talk about this, that would be a different thread all together.... although probably also very frowned upon and considered very

This reminds me of a phenomenon that occurred in my last year of architecture school. Cesar Pelli (a.k.a. Mr. Skyscraper) ran a studio called "Tall Buildings", in which, not surprisingly, we were to design a skyscraper ostensibly for the proposed 2012 Olympic Games in NYC.
I can't remember exactly, but I guess there were probably 10 of us in the studio. Not only was there only one woman (which would not be weird for architecture as a profession, but was weird given my school's policy of a parity between the sexes in each entering class), but there was only one guy under 6'-0". Even Cesar is over 6'-0".
Tall buildings designed by tall guys.
The rest of the school thought it was hilarious.
Attached is a recent picture of me and Mr. Skyscraper when he was in my neck of the woods for the opening of his performing arts center in Miami. He's a big sweetiepants!

I'm 6' 1" and hubby is 6' 4". And I'm using his computer to post at the moment. Mine is going in the shop...so I may not be around here all that much for the next 7 to 10 days to tell tall tales.

If the question were asked in the same way UPS measures packages, the answers would be different.
I've seen pictures, Steve, and if our shoulder width were added to our height, you'd be taking the trophy home, I think.
In my case, the addition for shoulder width would run dangerously close to a subtraction. Sigh.

I can't tell you how hard it is trying to find a shirt that fits! sleeves are always too short, and if I find sleeves that fit, the tail is too long.
and this tolerance of which you speak: my existance is not up for debate. tolerance suggests that I am somehow "less" than the rest of you. I do not need to justify my altitude to any of you!

What about your inappropriate displays of tallness? What you do in the privacy of your own home is fine. No one has to see it. I don't know why you have to flaunt your tallness in public. :)

I may be small, but I can always come up w/ a way to tower over people :p Plus, I can wear heals & be 4'21".
Keltic63: I can't tell you how hard it is trying to find a shirt that fits! sleeves are always too short, and if I find sleeves that fit, the tail is too long.
The men's department isn't cake for smaller people either. I spend 10 minutes flipping through all the L, XL, XXL, etc. before finding anything, & can't find men's shoes at Kohl's. It's obviously a conspiracy to starve us out of existence, but it won't work. I know what you people are up to.
Really though, I like tall people. It's way funnier when they trip on things, & fall down.

This dogg is right at 5' 5", although normally I'm in heels so 5' 8". And when I'm on my horse, well I rise to well above 7'.
Tomorrow PM I'll be on a plane to So Cal - so could I say that I would be approximately 33,005.5 feet tall??
Sometimes, when I wake up and I'm not ready to be up yet (wait, that's EVERY morning!) I can barely top 5'2"..... :p ;)

I am 5'3", 5'31/2" when I am really wanting to be taller. And, I hardly ever wear heels, or ride horses, so not many ways to feel taller than I am. My daughter will be taller than me within another year or two I am afraid. Weight will not be discussed, and if a thread survey is started about that topic I will not participate thank you very much!!! I am wondering how soon I can expect to start shrinking, I hope I can hold onto what I have just a bit longer.
Short people rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with Dash - my ego is way taller than the rest of me!
I stand at 5'7". I had hoped for a more majestic physical presence.
I'm just 5'5 and 1/2. I am not petite at 5'3 and not tall at 5'7. I used to be a WHOLE 1/4 taller, but after 25 you actually start to shrink.
If you shrink more than a 1/2 an inch, get assessed for Osteoperosis because that is what it usually means. 1/2 inch is pretty standard actually, it's the compression of vertebra disk. It gets compressed over your life and absorbs less shock, hence, you hurt your back easier with jolting force than when you were younger. It also gets compressed over the day, so Zerbie, if you want to have a taller physical presence, get measured in the morning(you are tallest then).
This service announcement brought to you by your friendly, queer rehab therapist!:lol::lol:

at 5'7" I am NEVER attending a soulforce get-together just so I can be the token short guy.
It's okay! We'll just keep you around tall people, then everyone will remember you as the token short guy. Anywa,y I'm 5'8", and my bf was too for the first year we dated, but now he's trying to get to 5'9" and making me sad in the process, lol. For my weight, I am a sexy 130-135 and have never surpassed that :p:love::D:lol:!

AND... you are what? 20 years old? Beware your 30th birthday... thats all I have to say. On your 30th birthday your metabolism slams on the brakes and all those cheeseburgers begin to catch up with you. Enjoy your skinny youthfulness while you can!!
(and tell us all about it so that we old coots can enjoy it vicariously!!)
Nope, just 19. AND... yes, I am aware of the 30 year metabolism issue. My dad and all my uncles encountered it. However, two uncles had parts of their stomachs removed for some medical issues, and they look healthy thin (which I assume I could achieve just by eating less when I get to their age). In fact, one of them is 60 but all my friends think he is 30 (and he's gay too), so hopefully I can pull that off if I got those genes. ;)

I'm 6'2". Sounds like I'd actually be in the middle of the road if all of us were to be put together in a room. For my part, I like being able to see over others in a room or in a crowd. And no, I don't look down on anyone for being short! (Well, I have to look down, but ... erm ... well ... ok ... I'll stop there!)

I'm jealous of all you slower metabolites.
I'm still waiting for the 30th Birthday Metabolic slowing. Why is this a problem you may ask?
Imagine needing to eat a complete meal every 3 waking hours, even if you're in the middle of class or the middle of work. That's why. :p Well, actually, I HAVE been a LITTLE less hungry since my birthday. :p But alas, I inherited my dad's furious metabolism. His 30th Birthday SlowDown didn't hit til he was 65. Now, he has a little belly roll.
:p Hubby says I eat 5 times as much food as he does - and I think he's right. He doesn't eat very much.

Ask me how much I weigh, and feel my purse smack your face!!! :p
J/K I'd never do that... :D

Ask me how much I weigh, and feel my purse smack your face!!!
Well, it wouldn't be the FIRST time that has happened.
