My name is Brian, I was born and raised in Topeka, KS. I will be moving to Kansas City. Topeka is a pretty boring city with a lot of problems. I can say hi to Fred Phelps any time I want to because he is on many of the street corners! He even Pickets our University.
I play the cello and am a vocalist.
I am down to earth and enjoy a bit of controversy now and then.
I have grown up Catholic and then became a born again Christian. When I started hearing slander about homosexuality I started questioning the Bible.
My older sister is a Biblical studies/youth ministry major and is my "Walking Bible" because she knows the passages very well.
Topeka was trying to pass an anti-discrimination law to protect homosexuals from being fired at work when they are found out. When my church passed out fliers to vote against this anti-discrimination clause I decided to leave the church.
Not protecting the rights of a person who did no wrong is irrational to me.:D
My sister and I share the same beliefs and rational about the Bible. Except for one thing.
I am a psychology major and have worked with children with behavioral problems or disorders for a little over a year now.
I hope to discuss past, current, and future issues with everyone.

~Brian

Hi Brian, I'm also Brian. Welcome to the message board. :) I left my born-again church because their teaching about homosexuality is you're going to hell...no exceptions. My journey led me to become catholic. It may not be much different but I felt the peace of Christ there like I never felt in my other church. I just found it funny that you went one direction and I went the opposite direction on our faith journey's. Anyway, welcome!

'Soon as I get a video camera, I'm there!

Hmmm, now I seem to recall that at one point someone around here was a "vocalist," as it were... I'm sure that Zerbie, Daniel, Dash, and some guy named Kevin, among others, might recall whom it was. ..Help me out here guys.

Goodie, you're a thinker.

Welcome to Soulforce. I've always wondered what it would be like to live down the street from Fredie. I've been to Kansas City...should be better for ya.

Hello. Welcome. :)

I think you''ll enjoy it here. How can you not, when there are so many musicians?
I'm one of a few singers here, along with Daniel and Dash (and who else??), seriously, we could produce concerts.

First of all, WELCOME to Soul Force. I didnt leave my church because of thier teachings on homosexuality, I actually left Christianity. It wasnt until I found this site and read Dr Whites book did I find that God loves me just as I am. I can be gay and Christian, they arent mutually exclusive.

I too am a singer. My voice is more like Scott Stapps, ex singer of Creed. I more of a mellow scream but can do the soft stuff too. I am currently working on and acoustical version"Broken" by Evanescence with my father. I will be doing the vocals and he will be playing guitar. Once it is done I will post it on my MySpace page for everyone to hear.

Anyway, I digress. Again, welcome Brian. My name is Scott. I hope to see your participation in the forums. There is a lot of great people in here. I find this place to be a second family. I hope you will find what you need here.
