This morning Jerry Falwell passed away. All my friends are celebrating and I am sad. Sad that he went to the grave not knowing fully the grace of God and how much he is loved by his heavenly parent, as are all of us. It inspired me to get more involved.
My name is Juanita. I have been an out of the closet Christian Lesbian for 20 years. I have been active in my community and seen so much progress over the years. In 1992 I was fired for being Gay from a Christian organization, this year Washington added sexual orientation to our non-discrimination laws. we've come a long way baby.
My stand in the world is that every person will know the peace that surpasses all understanding. In the sex positive community so many people don't know that God loves them, that she wishes to be with them, in every place that they are. You don't have to change anything to know the love of God, but knowing the love of God will change everything. So that is who I am.
I am also a social worker, the mom of a 16 year old boy (proof that two moms can raise wonderful children) and currently married to a wonderful man who I adore (yes, I still identify as Lesbian, but that is another conversation) I can't wait to exchange thoughts and ideas with everyone.

What a fascinating introduction! So - you raised a child with a female partner, but now you are married to a man? I have a male friend who used to say, jokingly but I think he somewhat meant it, that he was a lesbian. He married a lesbian, who still identifies as lesbian, but is in love with and committed to him.

I think it is very sad that Falwell has died without discovering that gay people are infinitely valuable and loved precisely as they are: but my conviction is, he knows that now.

Question: you don't think that being "sex positive" separates one from God, or do you? I rather got that from your post.

Oh goodness, no. I think that a lot of people assume that God doesn't love them because of who or how they love. They're wrong. I contend that there is no place that God would not want to be with you, even if where you are is behind a bar getting your rocks off with some stranger. Thank you for asking. I would have hated to be miss-understood.
The husband happened because after a long relationship ended he and I both started dating the same girl and found that we had a lot in common. I fell in love with him all the time saying "I can't fall in love with you I'm a lesbian." and I got that I have spent my whole life fighting for the right to love anyone I wanted and now after 20+ years, I wanted to love him. Go figure.

For Juanita: I'm pretty clear in most of my posts that I take an affirming view on sexual pleasure, in most instances. But I'm also a married person with really lousy heterosexual credentials. I'm not sure which part of your clarification U-dog was joking to me about, because he could have been referring to either.
