Hello, I wanted to give this site a try. It looks promising. I've been a Christian my whole life, and I won't bore you with all the details, but I went through what many of you have trying to accept myself. I'm now 42, and as of 3 years ago, I have done just that. I know, slow learner :). Anyway!! I'm transgendered and have been involved in multiple GLBT groups. I travel extensively, and have friends all over North American and some in Europe. This journey is a strange one, I constantly feel like a graduate - just when I think I know it all, I find I'm just beginning. I have tried many churches, and have found one I am really happy with. I am still married (22 yrs) and have 3 daughters. I can't say that family is accepting, but they are trying. My daughters are 22, 20 and 8 (well, in July they will be), so right now my youngest is the one I'm focusing on for a "schedule" to transition. I have been in support groups, and have therapists and an Endocrinologist. And, even though I'm ready, I want to make sure I don't forget my responsibility to family. I don't want to preach, just looking for friends. Glad to be here.

Welcome to the Soulforce forums! I'm 50 and just gettin it figured out so you are ahead of me! this is a great place and you are welcome here. If I may ask, are you M2F or F2M transgendered? (Dana is one of those names that can go either way)
I admire your commitment to family responsibility as you make your way along your path. we hope that you will "bore" us with more of your story.

First - Sorry for the mis-spelling. I'm at work and was in a hurry.
U-Dogg asked about my transition. I am M to F.
Current Family status. Oldest daughter not accepting, 2nd daughter not really either. 8 Yr old is my best friend, she loves who I am. Wife, I feel so sorry for her. She is really struggling. We've been together since the 9th grade. This is totally unfair to her, and I know it, but she is trying. None of them has seen Dana, althogh my 8 yr old is the only one who has looked at the pictures. She wants to go to church with me, as Dana. I am also taking her to my therapy session next Friday.
I am losing weight!!! yeah. My Dr. is happy. My endo treats me for Diabetes, and knows all about Dana. He will let me start hormones as soon as I am ready. I already have a letter.
I traveled to DC recently for a Transgender Lobby Day. My first 5 days as full time. I loved it. Planes, trains, and automobiles...
Thx for the posts.

First off, Happy to have you. I was also very pleased to see the compassion for your wife. Sometimes it is hard when you are in transition to concentrate on other's feelings. I do know of several couples that have been together before transition, that have been able to maintain their marriage.
I am so happy for you that your youngest is being so supportive. She must be a very secure little girl. You are in my prayers.

It's very nice to have you with us ... that's great that you could be part of the recent Lobby Days!
